get a 2.8/3.1 thirdgen. good gas millage, and they handle better. AND if it's a stick it will have a 3.42:1 open rear, which you can trade for your formulas 2.73:1. it will make the 2.8/3.1 even slower, but the formula faster.

actualy, get a pick up, then you ca haul parts for the thirdgen.

two cars is a good idea though, it gives you the freedom to rip apart your fun car for some serious mayhem Wink

S10's are a gamble as to what rear they have.

4x2, 3.08 ratio (opt GU4)
4x2, 3.42 ratio (opt GU6)
4x2, 3.73 ratio (opt GT4)
4x2, 4.11 ratio (opt H04)

Too many wheel/payload options.

ive been told that 3.73s are pushing it for a 700R4+the power band these cars have. what's your opinion on that?

342 came in most of the 2.8 Auto's. The trucks used taller tires than the camaro's, so it might be harder to find. S10's and Camaro's use the same center housing so the gears are swappable. My 4.11's came out of an S10.

gotta a great story!
k so ive been looking for a cheap daily driver, im on my way to work in downtown Hillsboro, Oregon, from the street i see a late '80s beater mustang on a used car lot, for the heck of it i pull over for a closer look.
the car lot was right next to a trailer park and in fact there was a trailer on it... i guess its the showroom... anyway i only see one guy on the whole lot and i asked "How much for the Mustang?" he didnt speak english so i had to ask a few times but i finally got "OCHO!" out of him. it was just a lil 4cylender automatic but the tranny felt good and the a/c worked so i was thinking about offering him "QUATTRO!" what yol think

Dude... i wopuld hesitate to buy anything at that lot... just look at it. you need a reliable daily, not one that is going to be more work then your project. but if it's what you want thenm get it.... worst case it's a 400$ mistake.

BTW where do you work in hillsborito?
