turns out the NAPA old me a flywheel that was neutral balanced, and my 2.8 needs and "externally balanced" flywheel. si i managed to get the broken off bolt out with a pair of lockjaw pliers, and upon closer inspection i had stripped the threads off the bolt, NOT the flywheel, so i went ahead and reused my original, and got my cash back from napa, went ahead and replaced the rear main while i was back there, that took about 5 minutes..

anyway, i think i need to put my huge chunk of steel back on the back, i get a funny vibration when i let the clutch out, or whenever i hit 2200 RPM. Rolling Eyes

i guess it DOES do something.

here are the flywheel differences in case anyone wants too see for themselves.

and here is the transmission without the vibration dampener. i will probably not get a chance to reinstall it until next weekend. too bad it has to go back in, i liked shaving 30LBS off the weight of my transmission.

I've still never seen one. Wonder why it's such the vibration.

You have a spec clutch now, it's going to be grabby especially at first.

well, i'll wait the week... see what happens.

but i got the baisic SPEC, not the level 3 or 4 or anything, just the level one. it will hold 220 LB FT of TQ

Sweet! I've always wondered why they put a weight on the outside like that. Makes more sense to make the motor internally balanced so you do n't have to worry about it. Oh well. Good to see it going back together well.

The 89 2.8L motor I've got doesn't have a weight on the back of the flywheel.

Must be an internal. Which I prefer.[/code]
