So today was the Boeing Employees Car Show. A drive in where all Boeing employees were encouraged to drive their show car to work and park in a special section of the lot.

So last night I spent a few hours buffing and polishing to get Black Betty all ready for my dad to drive in to work this morning. We printed out a few progress pics of what it looked like last year before paint and some gutted interior shots to put on the window as a "project timeline".

According to my dad, the car held its own out there, granted when parked next to a cherry 69 cobrajet mustang it falters a little, but on the whole it looked like it belonged out there. Well when lunch time came around and everyone went outside to browse. some jackass in his shop puts a ribbon on the car saying "Worst car in show, shouldn't even be here". then proceeded to point out any and all flaws with the car. Granted it is is not perfect but ITS A HOME JOB. I didn't pay a shop $10,000 to restore it, I freakin did it myself.

Sorry if this seems like a rant but jerkoffs like this really get on my nerves. especially when he didn't have anything worth showing.

~JAKE

Shrug it off buddy, you know what went into that car, so some guy with such a low self esteem feels the need to try to make himself feel better, by putting some stupid ribbon on your car. Who cares, you car is cool, and will only get even better.

Cheers,
John

Better yet just give me his license plate number and 200.00 bucks.

Very Happy

Sorry man, they exist everywhere, I meet them everyday at the car lot, guys whose sole purpose is to tear me down about some classic here on the lot that they wish they could buy.

BTW, if it helps at all, my friend Tim and I, 305302eater, were talking about your awesome paint job while out cruising a few nights ago.

Ya Jake, I'm with you. I hate it when people pass judgment on my car. Given it doesn't look the best but hey, I've done everything to it and some guys just don't get the satisfaction of having that feeling of knowing that. Dylan is right I love the paint job on that car.

Thanks for the kind words guys. Its nice to know that there are people out there who appreciate hard work.

And on a lighter note, turns out by the end of the day it had about 150 votes for people's choice! Only 2 guys were behind the prank and one came back and apologized for the hurtful words later. So yeah, I'm feeling better.

~JAKE

PS and my dad wants to steal my car for a week because he thinks its too much fun to drive and doesn't want to give it back! Razz

Its cool the dude apologized later.

The way I see it is, yes, having a 5K paintjob is nice, yes, having a show-winning car is nice, BUT...

i would NEVER build a car that I'd be paranoid to drive for fear of defacing its value or show-winning quality.

cars were meant to be driven, end of story.

I totally agree. I hate the older people who keep all the cool cars in there garage and never drive them. I work with one. He has 69 Z28 4 speed that hasent been driven in 22 years. He also has a 1970 ss chevelle same thing. Cars are meant to be driven. Very Happy

Yeah, this guy that Tim is referring to won't admit it, but the last time his chevelle saw road time was when it was stolen and involved in a highspeed chase with the local cops. It should be noted that the chevelle left the crown vics a few miles back until the kids eventually ran out of roads.

At least it was on the road!

I can't believe he did that!!!!!!
Not all Boeing guys are that way!! Iam one of them, Auburn, Fab Division.
That’s crazy.
You should have had your dad call security and get the SOB in trouble.
That just pisses me off to no end.
I can't believe I didn't see this post earlier.
What’s his full name and where does he work. He was just jealous of all the hard work you put into that car.
Crap I LOVE THAT CAR!!!!!!!
Man..
Its AMAZING ... what some people will do sometimes....

Its cool your dad took the car to the show, there is some obvious pride that you both have in the project.

I think it was a random prank, they were just looking for the nearest car to pull it off.

3rd gens have a tough time as it is fitting in, not quite fast enough out of the box to keep up with newer cars, and not quite old enough to be considered classic.

I had one assclown tell me my car didnt belong in this one show, it was a LesSchwab no holds bar type, you got $ and your in. Anyway I just chuckled to myself and didnt even care what he had brought in. I think I paid 3 or 4k for mine. slapped on some decals and some polish and Im happy. Best moment was taking first from an 02 Firehawk
