So living in a fairly small town can have it's benefits and disadvantages.

We bought a car, another camaro... this is the 10th 3rd gen we've had now.

The Benefits: (in my opinion)

As far as camaro's go, this car is perfect. 1986, IROC, TPI No dents, no dings, interior is great, nose is perfect, all matching ground effects in excellent condition, etc., etc.

The disadvantages:
The clear coat is peeling/missing but the paint is good, broken passenger side window, needs steering wheel/key assembly/steering column (I don't know what is actually wrong).

I think that since we really don't need another car we should part this car and fix up Rodney's interior, nose and ground effects. Rodney thinks we should keep it, fix it and either sell it or keep it as a good original.

What do you all think?

Being that I am on camaro #4 (own 3 presently 2ea RS, 1ea Z28), I would vote on fixing the good chassis. If the new one only needs bolt on parts, I would proceed to turning wrenches. The only time I would accept parting out a car is if the body is destroyed.

i agree with blue, no sense in decomissioning another 3rd gen, if all that's wrong with it is a window, wheel, and some clear coat coming off. Turn it into a drag car if you want to use the interior parts Wink

steering columns are easy as hell to remove/replace.

my vote is if overall, its better than Rod's Z/28 now, pull the good stuff from Rod's car and put it on the new one.

If the one you bought is in worse shape, take the parts you want off, put your old parts on this new camaro, and turn around and sell it.

even if you take a $100 loss, you got your money in parts right there.

you know, i have heard people say "guit fng talking" but i think that on the internet it usualy means Quoted for truth. perhaps i should just stick to "+1" as that is easy to understand and prety much means the same thing. or i guess i could have typed:

"i agree with chris" and that would have saved us a bunch of trouble. Laughing

the new one doesn't have the blemishes that Rodney's does. The interior, nose and ground effects are perfect and are pieces that we are eventually going to be purchasing.
We have sentimental value to Rodney's car, it's not going anywhere. So putting his stuff on the new car is not an option. I think we should get the pieces that we need, and part the rest.

(I also know that Rodney is not good at selling 3rd gen's, He just loves them too much and we end up keeping them. Out of 10 we still have 5! and none of the other 5 were this nice.)

Fix Rod's car with it. Buckle up new car with rods old pieces. Primer it, sell it.

Put the TPI on Jenn's car unless you have bigger better plans.

Or if you part it, make sure the TPI is off of it when I come down labor day and I'll haul it away. Laughing

So far that won't be a problem.... but the truck will be gone, so we will have enough parking for about 8-9 cars, if we need more then we can do some more shuffling. Very Happy
