Ok so I got my new Iroc and have been driving it for a couple of weeks when last night the transmission started making noises. I think its the pilot bearing went and its starting to wear on the throwout bearing. Anyways I'm in the market for yet another t56 transmission. All i need is the transmission bellhousing and flywheel. The iroc came with everything else needed for the swap. So if any of you have any leads on a lt1 style t56 let me know.

I think beating the crap out of a certain baby sized import on the highway finally destroyed that POS American Transmission.

: )

My plan is complete. Very Happy

If all that it is, is just a pilot bearing, why not just replace it before it gets bad enough to whipe out the input shaft? Or does it not have a T56 in it now, and you want an excuse to put one in? Wink

T56rebuilds.com ... they'll set you up right if you use them... they've got a great rep for 6 speed rebuilding and parts availability

same guys... Joe and Amber, they just changed the name to encompass all 6 speed manuals (and the occasional auto) ... take a look at the top of the page... the T56rebuilds used to just forward to the new site though

trying to talk Joe into doing a tune for my SS but they've damn near doubled their work load since the name change and extending the shop to about double the size it used to be.

might be offering myself to them a few days a week and learn my way around the inside of a transmission and help out, gives me something to do in slower parts of the weeks Twisted Evil

Cool. I've heard quite a few people recommend them, and I noticed that site had gone offline a few weeks ago.

No it has a non world class t5 in it. aka pos. The car came with everything to swap it to a lt1 style t56 except for the bell housing flywheel and the transmission. Everything else i have and brand new. Thats why i want a t56 now so i can actually shift with out double clutching. ya the trany is that bad.

Yeah, those POS's can't even stand up behind a stock 305, much less the engine in your IROC. Thumbs up

East Side in Bremerton has one. He needs to send it out to a transmission shop to see what condition it's in and/or to repair it. After that he'll let it go for about $1100. I forgot what it came out of.

Looked at it Saturday because I'm also interested in one. The starter in the car it came out of grenaded and, since the motor doesn't run, there was no way to check out the tranny. Far as I know it's still there.
