The poor little 'Bird has probably been washed only 3 times in the last 6 years and over a decade since the last wax. That's going to change now Smile

Here's some fresh pics from Illinois after washing it off after the trip. Not bad for 13 year old paint! It still looks fresh from the shop. Next item on the list is a good wax job and clean out the interior. Very Happy

Looking good Jon. So the hood fits on there as long as the air cleaner is not on or what?

I was trying to find a pic of Christopher Walken tasting the mouse turd in the movie Mouse Hunt, and post it here, but came up short Laughing

The blower isn't bolted on right now. Easier for transport to have the hood on. Wink

I've been doing a lot of musing lately. I really don't want to cut the hood. I'm considering looking for a used Vortec supercharger setup for a truck and fitting it to my engine and get the ducting for the carb setup. Just an idea at this point. I suppose I should put the blower back on and get a feel for the clearances again.

You don't want to just get a low cowl or Jongbloed hood and put it over the blower?

I bet my new fiberglass hood would give you all the clearance that you need. I have never seen another one just like it though.

Seriously, I'd get a Jongbloed hood in a heart beat if I could find one. Got any leads on a Firebird version?

Would that work? Most of those I have seen don't have much more clearance under the cowl section. They have a cutout for an air cleaner. I guess a guy could modify it.

I'll take a look around again but I just wasn't real happy with the choices for firebirds.

I don't need much extra clearance. It's a low profile blower setup. I could even lower the engine an inch or two if necessary.

the Jongbloed hood does not have a cutout for an air cleaner even thou it looks like it does. the round hole on the bottom side is actually for the mold, it asked them about it, granted it could work for that.
i had to enlarge the hole to fit my HSR
and they now make a 3" & a 5" Jongbloed hood, personally i think the 5" would be too tall.

but yes its dam sexy looking, ive had a few comments

I'll admit that I have not seen all the interior of your car, but, when I heard "mouse turds" I expected a much worse situation. Looks like if the same amount of time is spent vaccuming and shampooing the interior, it will look as sparkly clean as the exterior.

its a comapny called GT fiberglass that makes them, they do 3" & 5" rise

its $440 for the 3" & $455 for the 5" + shipping

when bigdaddyvue ordered a ram air hood for his TA they were like 4-6 weeks out they said but it did take longer, back in 03 when i ordered my hood from them, i paid like $700 something total, so their prices have come down.

they were pretty good with the CS when i got mine, i told him i was thinking of cutting the hood, so he put in a few extra layers of fiberglass for me at no charge, but when bigdaddy ordered his, he had some problems, like no reponse from them for awhile, but they had also just bought another company & were merging/moving

i had to cut the underside some to fit my HSR, so there is some additional clearance to be gained if you needed it

Thanks, Wolffy. I don't see that they make a Jongbloed hood for Firebird. I sent them an e-mail to make sure.

I talked it over with my wife and she would prefer to keep the stock hood and the look of the car as it is now. I told her it's nearly impossible with a big block whether supercharged or not. So she told me to sell the big block and put in a LSx engine.... seriously! Shocked

So I started thinking. Very Happy

What if I got a 6.0L truck engine, stroked it, and put on better heads with Z06 induction? I would think that could make serious power? Confused
