Almost all of the bodywork is done! I think I did a pretty decent job for it being my first bondo and sanding experience. Now all I've gotta do is save some money up for paint.
I'm gonna do a nice base-clear, original colors, black and silver. Anyone know any good and hopefully cheap places I can order some paint from?

I got mine from napa, I got primer sealer, 2 colors base, and clear all for around $500... i think  wasn't much more than that if it was.

HOC paint is about the most expensive, and most places dont stock it.
I like PPG, but its quite expensive.
Dupont "manson", I have been using there clear, I like it. Lays good, sprays nice.
Ive used some serwin williams (sp?), it was ok.
I think thats all Ive used. Most of the places here have PPG n dupont.
:edit: and for price. Your color will very on price due to what its made out of. Red and metallics will be your most expensive. |

| My roommate and I have both used Omni paint with success. Inconsistancy between batches vary, but if you get enough to paint your car all at once it will be fine. Repainting is another matter. Just make sure you get a decent clear and it works great. I paid 100 for a gallon of primer and two hardners, I think it was 350 for two quarts base, hardner, and a gallon of clear with harnder. |

That Omni clear is the most smelly, sticky stuff I have used. Works fine though. Will get you higher then a 747 while doing it too!  |

| 747, was that joke aimed at me? Lol. 30,000ft here we come! But if you are afraid of heights, I'd recommend some organic filter breathing masks. They worked really well for us. |

Actually, no. But now that you mention it 
was just trying to think of something high in the sky. That was all I could come up with at the moment. I cant breath in the gas mask. Dunno if its mental or physical. |

That's part of the fun though!
The guy at the local paintstore here recommended Omni as the top choice. Dupont something-or-other was his budget recommendation, but it was still 600 for everything! I'm thinking of going House of Kolor, I found an online paintstore that stocks it for decent prices. This paycheck I'm buying primer, next time is the paint check!
I can't wait for my car to look as good as it runs! |

oh man do i know how that feeling is! you are going black? BE CAREFUL! black is a hard color to paint. just make sure you take your time and don't rush things.
BE SURE TO INVEST IN A GOOD WATERTRAP! and not one of those crappy orange things they sell you for 2 bucks. It was totally worth the $35 i spent. the last thing you want is for water to go dropping on your wet paint job. *I've painted a few cars and that is a killer!*

Agree, you need an inline trap, and the pre-gun orange trap.
Also agree that black is the hardest to paint. As well, shows EVERY detail. Prepping a good paint job is more time/money then painting, and it shows too. I did a quick rush on my fender and it shows. I now am going to have to sand it down this fall and repaint it. |
