One of the goals that I have always had for my trans am is to get her out on a road course. Open track with no po-po - bliss!

My factory 4 wheel discs have served me well and stop the car quite well; at least for a few times in a row. There is no way that I could have spent a day at the track because they would have faded far too soon and spoiled my fun. I worked with Ed Miller to get one of the wilwood setups that he put together that fit under the 16" crosslace wheels. They showed up yesterday. One step closer Very Happy

Hopefully before Seattle. I still have rotor envy, but I didn't have to purchase new wheels with these Wink

No, only the fronts. I doubt that I will do anything to the rears. Possibly a proportioning valve down the road if I need to.

How much, if you don't mind me asking? One of these days I'm going to put in a near rear and dump the drums while I'm at it. I might as well upgrade the front discs at the same time.

I expect my newly rebuilt steering box at the end of this week or early next, in hopes of putting it back in the car before the gathering (so I can drive it!).

No problem. In round numbers it was about $1300 for the kit. This includes the forged aluminum Wilwood FSL 4 piston calipers, 12.2" x 1.25" rotors and aluminum hats, rotors, pads, timken bearings, modified spindles and stainless steel brake lines all fully assembled, safety wired and ready to go. I added in about $100 for zinc washed, slotted rotors. Add about another $100 for shipping. So around $1500 total for my setup.

There are a few ways you could save a few bucks but it was worth it to me. The SCCA racer's feedback on performance compared to what he had been racing with was pretty impressive in my mind. I also appreciated that Ed Miller took the time to put this together so that it would fit under the 16" crosslace wheels. I am sure that you are appreciative of supporting folks that contribute to the thirdgen community Wink

Just about every other option that I looked at would require new wheels and I just couldn't find anything that I wanted on my trans am that weren't about $1k each.

And the crosslaces hide the wilwoods really well. You'd have to be definately paying attention to notice them.
