OK so I'm buying a 89 i roc z. Its a LB9 305 with under drives, air foil, ac and smog delete, three inch cat back. Probably a couple other things i cant remember. Anyways i was wondering what is the best chip to get for it since i cant burn my own and the one that was in it acts up a lot. Any input would be awesome.

I would stick with a stock chip, until you can burn your own.

Stock with that few mods. Possibly find someone in your area to make a custom one, or have them help show you how to make one.

NO NO NO. Get the ebay chip bro!

35.00 dollars and 20hp! From a black plastic box that splices into your wiring.

hehe. Congrats Tim on the new car, it needs a good owner!

Did you take it to track to verify? It may "feel" like it made a diffrence, but it has been proven on countless dyno's and tracks, that the chips for the 3rdgens don't do anything.

Well no i have not but i will do that as soon as possible. I will run it with the stock chip then the super chip. Cause it seems to pull a lot harder with the chip.

Tim, its a proven fact that decals add more power than chips for thirdgens. Also, trimming your mullet helps with drag.

If you need some help with getting the right chip for you I may be able to help you out. Also if you need to get some before and after dyno time I am sure I can help out in that department as well.

Thanks zac that would be awesome. I'm sure dylan would like to see what he puts down in the miata. I guess martin aka aximal or something like that, he's on here. he' s the guy i'm getting the car from, has all the stuff to burn chips i just don't know how. But i would love to see what the new car puts down.

Anyway you can rig the dyno for me zac? I need everyone to think the miata is putting down 300rwhp. Very Happy

I'd be interested to see what the mods of the previous owner, bless his heart for all his money spent, did for the car.

Tim, what's wrong with the RS you have now?

are you going to at least take the 6spd from that and put in the new IROC?

He's putting another 6 speed in the Iroc, all the swap stuff minus the tranny come with the car.

This iroc that tim and I's friend martin owns is a result of us driving him around, him being a non car guy, in our 3rd gens. I took him sideways around too many corners in my GTA and tim did likewise in his RS. Our friend bought a near virgin 305tpi/5 speed Iroc and then proceeded to slowly destroy it by questionable driving skills....

So for a good deal, tim is doing a brake job and an exhaust fix, (its being held on by a tow strap that wraps inside the cabin right now) (i wish I was kidding) and taking the car home where it will be transformed back into a hotrod.

Cool any help i can get with chips would be greatly welcomed. As to your question chris, nothing is wrong with the rs, i just cant pass this up to get the iroc. Plus i have a 11 year old brother who loves cars and i'm giving him my rs when he turns 16. As he gets older I will start to teach him how to work on it and drive it Twisted Evil But as Dylan already said i will be looking for yet another lt1 6 speed. Plus the iroc is a lot faster then my measly 15.5 in my rs. So once i get the iroc i will be doing some overhaulen on her, plugs, oil, brakes, tint springs, I will be taking before and after pics to show what a little tlc will do to this car.
