Finished up the tranny this weekend and got it put in today. Works pretty good considering I didn't buy a single part for it. Took the two broken T5's and made on good one. All the other one will need now is new shift forks and a rebuild kit. After I tore apart the one that lost 5th up at Cows it is a wonder that I got it home. About 90% of the 3 - 4 shift fork was broken off and had been chewed up in the tranny. I believe that is what made me loose 5th, all the ground up fork material fouled the 5th gear syncro so it wouldn't shift. A couple more hard 3rd or 4th gear shifts and I would have been down to only 1st and 2nd. Laughing

Then I really would have had a long trip home.

Nope.

Took her out for a test tonight, took it easy for about 5 miles, just to check everything out.

Then flogged it for about 20 miles. Laughing

I only know one way to drive it. Cool

for real though, nice work Rod, opening up a transmission seems like quite a daunting task to me. how many times have you done it now?

It's intimidating at first but if you're organized about it, it's not bad at all.

Hell even gutting a TH350 and putting it back together wasn't all that tough.
