Last night I was taking a drive up Skyline road and out of no where a white object flew out in front of my car and smashed into my bumper. I immediately stopped and pulled into a driveway and got out to assess the damage....and look for the f***er who threw the darn thing. It was indeed an egg. I never found the kid (lucky for him) but I have heard that eggs can ruin your cars paint. I was able to rinse it off about an hour later but some of it stuck on pretty good. I'm going to give the car a good washing today but I want to know if egg yolk/white can actually ruin paint or if that is a myth. _________________ Richmond 3.73 posi| 36/24 sway bars | SLP LM2 | Koni's | Ground Control 800/200 | Y2K wheels | Dyno Don headers & Y-pipe | airfoil | BBK underdrive pulleys | Raised strut mounts | Extended ball joints | LCARB'S

Egg can etch itself in there pretty good. If you rinsed it off of there that quick you 'should' be ok.

| Yes it will damage paint, and badly too if not taken care of. 1 hour at night is about max time to let it sit. I would heavly wash that part of the car, slightly rub it out, and wax the crap outta it. |

HOLY CRAP!
My car got egged while I was gone in Nevada....I wonder if it was the same bunch of yoke-els (har har..)
I spent a bunch of time on it yesterday with simple green, you can still see it.

Even though I gave it a good rinsing I came out the next morning to find that the front of my car looked as though I had never attempted to clean it. I gave it a good washing and it all seems to have came off (with a good bit of scrubbing). The initial impact of the egg did, however, chip the paint and leave circular spider-web cracks in the paint.
I went back up to the exact location of the incident and questioned about 20 different houses as to whether they had children (teenagers specifically). If so what there alibi's were, and if they didn't have kids, if they knew of anyone in the area that did. Well it turns out that one lady heard some kids messing around up at the location and were riding skateboards and such. her dog was barking at them too, this was unusual she said. After some more investigating there was apparently one home that had teenage kids that ride skateboards according to several neighbors.
when I finally got to that home they denied the fact that their kids rode skateboards, "They were never into that kinda stuff." All the while I was able to see helmets leaning against the deck railing in the background. The next house I questioned seemed to be infuriated by what they had told me. "Those kids most certainly do skateboard. they're up and down here all the time on those things." All the neighbors I talked too pointed me in their direction too. I also found out that there were some teenagers partying in the park right off the road of where my car was egged. To top it off, one of the neighbors cars' was egged not more than a week prior to this incident.
It really pisses me off that someone would do this. I mean toilet paper and saran wrap is one thing, that can be cleaned up. But egging cars actually damages them. I really wish I would have caught those kids. I can notice where the egg hit more than 10 feet away and if I had caught them I would have had the pay for my bumper to get repainted. Egging cars is a criminal misdemeanor and destruction of property (vandalism). I should have had the police involved the night it happened. The things that kids do these days to have fun is
Looks like I'll never get to the bottom of this. _________________ Richmond 3.73 posi| 36/24 sway bars | SLP LM2 | Koni's | Ground Control 800/200 | Y2K wheels | Dyno Don headers & Y-pipe | airfoil | BBK underdrive pulleys | Raised strut mounts | Extended ball joints | LCARB'S

| By questioning the neighborhood, and confronting the suspect parents, you can atleast know that those kids will get a little bit of a talking to even if they didnt do it lol. |

as for the parents giving the kids a "talking too", don't count on it. if she was lying to cover for her criminals in training she probably does not care.
you ought to just call the cops and hand over the details of your investigation. encourage the neighbors who have issues to call as well. the cops might not be able to help you, but the added pressure of having the cops over a few times might kick the parents ass into gear.
i know the cops showed up at my parents house because of something i did once (lit a firecracker, at 8pm on July 2nd, neighbors called in a "bomb explosion" ) anyway, my fireworks got taken away and i got a "talking too" . |

You're lucky man. There's nobody in my neighborhood who would do that kind of crap to my car. Most of my neighbors are adults though.
Unfortunately I live (and had my car parked at the time) on a busy street, so it could have been just about anyone.
Oddly enough it always seems to happen whenever I'm out of town for a couple days....makes me think its some a-hole who I know.
Mine still hasn't come out completely. _________________

you could always go a step further and use a cutting compound first, then polish and wax. that will for sure get it out.

The rubbing/cutting compounds can be a bit extreme.
Chris was over the other day and I ran some mild cleaner wax over one spot and it was virtually gone with little to no effort. |
