you can use the disk prop valve it will work to get you around but long term it should be swapped if you are staying with the new rear _________________

Take your drum axle out. Take it to a machine shop. Have them turn the flange down until the disc rotor fits over it.
I've done it twice now. Works great. |

i will prolly do just that, but as this is my only driver currently & as of tommorow, i will NOT be able to life ANYTHING for prolly at least 2 weeks, im kinda stuck at the moment and i dont want to ruin the disc rear end.
does anyone if i have to use a specific year? i have a rear end from my old 85 & the posi drum that came outta my 88
i know the R & L sides are different lengths & you have to use the same side
thanxs folks |

as long as they're both 26 spline axles or both 28 spline axles, it shouldn't be a problem if you use the correct side. _________________

No it wont work. Remember, this is why Rob turned that drum flange for me? Because it wouldn't fit in the disc brake rotor.
Wolf: Both sides are equal length. The idea of keeping a Left axle in the left housing side is because of the torque constantly applied to it in one direction. So you keep the metal flexed the same way if possible.
If you aren't going to drag race it with sticky tires, you're probably fine using either side. |

I know about the milling the axle down.
I thought his question was spesific to if axles from 82-92 would work. You already addressed in a previous post about the machine work that would need to be done. _________________

I'm probably a bit late responding to this thread, but check out my V6 car. I converted my drum axle to disk a while back. I used .100" spacers behind the disk to bring it out. Autocrossed all last year no problems. Also went with a wilwood prop valve and loving it. _________________ E30
