| Powershifting the way I understood it was you keep your foot on the floor and all you do is mash it into the next gear. |

...okay? Dude you confuse me. How are you supposed to shift quickly? |
double clutching. |
I always use the clutch to shift. Powershifting is hell on the synchros. |
I think powershifting would be hell on T5's period. |

| Wierd because I always heard it like Ian said, where you shift at WOT while fully but quickly slamming the clutch to the floor and releasing. |

Oh! Okay! Well yeah, I'd be whacking myself too if I did that. I just meant holding or just barely letting off while kick the clutch like you would start a dirtbike. |

I've always called that speed shifting, the trick with that is you are suppose to find the perfect breaking point for both gears like you can if you try it slowly. Back in the days when my dad grew up with the m22 they could take some abuse like that. Thats if the shifter doesn't get ripped out of your hand. Those old muncies you had to double clutch or slam it. I don't think a modern trany would hold up very long if you just mash it into the next gear without using the clutch. _________________ Thirdgenless |

There are a few mustangs that I would drive but none that I'd actually pay for. |

"Granny Shifting, Not double clutchin' like you should. You're lucky that 100 shot of NOS didn't blow the welds on the intake manifold"----Vin Diesel F&TF.
Double clutching, as I understand it is hitting the clutch petal real quick to get the car into neutral, and then hitting the petal real quick again to get into the next gear. Seems more time consuming to me and slows down your ET. I'd rather just have to hit the clutch once and shift into the next gear. _________________

Double clutching IIRC is exactly that. It is nicer to your transmission because it resets the syncros. It iss essential on my old triumph or else you'll shred the syncros and grind into gear...awful sound.

A perfect example of double clutching is if you watch the chase seen from the movie bullet. _________________ Thirdgenless |

You know, I' never thought about it before, but McQueen does always double-clutch it, especially after he gets out of the city. The other guy always single clutches, but he shifts pretty fast.
BTW, in case your wondering, it is up on YouTube:
