Honestly, the least of your concerns will be the transmission. You should focus on getting a running LT1 in your 3rd gen before you even think about the drivetrain. 4L60E's are great transmissions, as are the T56. Plus its not hard to do the auto-manual swap and many people have done it already. So if its not exactly what you want, change it later. But I wouldn't hold off just to get the manual.

The LT1 swap will challange your ability to read schematics. I would recommend trying to find a wrecked 4th gen donor car, cause a lot of the things will need to swap. Like radiator, alternator, wiring, pcm, throttle cable, and other nickel/dime things.

If you want to know about cars without glass, ask Dirty Steve.

A couple years back he picked up an 89 civic hatchback (not the crx that I posted pictures of last year) that we woodsbeat to crap. Well one of the nights I was working him and some other guys were hauling ass through the brush, got bored and took it out on the main road. Every single light busted out, no a shard of glass left on the thing, smoking like hell, caved in a-pillars and not a straight panel on the thing. Picture Steve-o with enormous antique fighter pilot goggles doing 80 down the back roads of port orchard. Laughing To top it off, he got pulled over. And the cop let him off! Told him to get off the road and get his ass home!

Shocked WOW YOU GUYS GOT LUCKY. That sounds like the same stuff i used to do with my 88 subaru GL two door. I had a track built in poulsbo on the way to the hood canal. Was a oval mod track. I wish i still had that that subaru. Sad

LS1 swap is good and all, but have you ever stopped to think that the LS1 swap headers cost as much as a used LT1?

Nope... The thought never crossed my mind... I drive a ford. Good point though.

BTW, I saw an ad on Craigslist, some dude selling an LT1/4L60E North of Bellingham for $1500. I can't find the add though, so it must have expired.
