So spring break just started for me and I'm home workin on the Camaro. The plan is to put an almost brand new interior in the car. I have been slowly acquiring parts over the last few months with the intent of spending spring break working on putting it back together. By the end of the week Black Betty will be rockin and rolling ready to be driven. Very Happy

So far I have replaced the outer window sweeps and the triangle window seals. Quick thanks to Kurfbird!!!!!! Next up is recover the roofliner and sailpanels, patch up a few small rust holes in the floorboards, and undercoat the passenger area and trunk.

Tomorrow i will put in the new carpet, finish the roofliner, install, and start putting in the new black plastics -Thanks to Magman!!!!!- and reinstall the center console.

By the end of the week, finish center console and install my new Megashifter -Thanks Tony!!!!!, Install my new 4th gen leather back seats -Thanks Craigslist Guy!!!!, and finally the front seats and door panels.

I know this is pretty ambitious but I think if i stick to it I'll get it done. Speaking of which, I need to get back out there...in the rain Sad

wish me luck... Very Happy
~JAKE

Interior was one of the first things I ever did.

I swap out 3 thirdgen interiors in one day!

Tan came out of the white car, black went in.
Black came out of the black car, black car was scrapped.
Multi color came out of the silver car, left over black and some other pieces went in to make it complete.

That was a fun day! Nice and sunny!

Good luck with her jake....

Interior can be done in an 8 hour day (or less..!)

Tony and I did this with swapping interiors from my 84 to my 85.

I've decided to redo the interior because I've found that when it comes to attracting the ladies, which we all know is the real reason we have these cars, the outside only goes so far. What I thought was an ok interior, to the females was gross. This occured to me when a girl was excited to posibly go for a ride in my car until she got in, then it was just "ohh" *look of dissapointment* Confused So it was decided, in order for me to attract a girl, i need a new interior. So off to work I go, see yall this evening!

well yesterday I got a decent chunk accomplished. I got the holes in the floor welded up, the new weatherstripping on, the material for the roofliner purchased and started the recovering process on my roofliner and sail panels. I wanted to have them be a light grey to offset the black but apparently there is no way to buy light grey headliner material around here without special ordering it, so it going to be black Razz I'll try to take some pictures of my work today so I'll post em up tonight before i go to sleep.

So I got a lot accomplished today, but Im confused as to how the roofliner is around the seatbelts, if someone has a picture of what it is supposed to look like that would be great. I'm not sure how it all works because this thing never had a roofliner when i bought it.

As for what got done today, well it has new carpet, the trunk plastics installed, seatbelts back in, leather backseats in, the center console has been recovered and ready to go in tomorrow, my sail pannels have been made, and the roofliner is almost done but not installed. The seats and door pannels have been shampooed and the new sunvisors are almost done. It is so nice to see this thing start to look like a real car again.

PICTURES!!! YEAH!
All in all, I'd say a pretty successful week. Took me longer than an 8 hour day like some of you estimated, but i did a lot more than just swap interior. I made a new headliner and sail panels, and had to fab a million other things. But I think it looks pretty good. Not perfect, but good enough to take the ladies for a drive! Cool

Very Happy

Looks good bubba. Interesting speedometer. I have only seen a few of those.

Does that limit you to 85MPH then?

Cool

Thanks for the compliments! I'm really happy with how it turned out. It still needs a tad bit more little things to make it fully complete but those will come in time.

Schultz- as for the speedo, yeah its a style they only made for 2 or 3 years. its kinda wierd and i'm not much of a fan cuz it does limit me to 85mph. I think i wanna swap out gauge clusters at some point.

we could realy make it look good by going the extra mile and swapping in a firebird dash. Twisted Evil

car looks AWSOME by the way Jake. the sail panals look real nice. question about the seats. will those new seat covers form to the seat foam more after time or is that as tight as they are going to get? they look fine now. i like the colour choice.

Hey Jake..that same cluster came with my 84, and eventually found its home in my 85 Z/28. (most of the gauges with that thing were busted) I broke the KPH side of the needle because I thought the dual needles were ugly.

The 82's faceplates were unique (different size numbers and letters)
83 had the odometer on the bottom and the trip odo on the top
84 was the last year and had the Odometer on the top and the trip on the bottom.

not that I would ever suggest you deface one of those extremely rare and valuable spedometers Razz

Thanks Tony, As for the seat covers, I'm sure they will break in and fit better as I sit in them more. Not the best, but not bad considering they were 1/8th the price of new seats Razz
