| Ok I am having problems with the 89 key. I have a 91 with the key in it. Can I take out the vats module in the 91 and use it in the 89? are they the same hookup? also does anyone know where it is in the 91? |

There should be 11 codes to the VATS from 1989 until 2002. if the 91 key has the right code and a close enough cut to fit in the ignition tumbler for your 89 it should "technically" work....oddly enough one of my "spare" keys is off a 94 pontiac Grand Am from the JY.....close enough cut to my 01 camaro, and the same code, evidently. VATS just made the Car theft job easier if you ask me...I don't think highly of it. _________________

There are 15 codes. I know this because my 92 uses #14, second from the highest resistance value. Found this out when I lost the key (or so I thought) and had a locksmith make a new one in the parking lot. _________________ 92 Camaro

| Well I got the vats fixed. Pulled the vats out of the 91 and measured the key resistance and put in a resistor. Thats all working fine now. Engine cranks but wont start. Don't know if its fuel or ignition. Think i am giving up. Going to pull it all out, rip out the computer stuff and drop in a small block with a carb and be done with it. |
