Pick-A-Part in Tumwater is the best wrecking yard I've ever been to! They have lots of 3rd gens (all Camaros) and most are 2.8 or 3.1 liters. Turbo_jimi and I will be going down there this Sunday for some much needed parts.

Hey j

I'm up in bham and the yards SUCK! I will oftentimes go to everette but I prefer canada. Canada The yards up there are awesome and the prices are cheap.

Just pick out a crewbie with a 3d gen that looks to be on its last legs.. then follow him around awhile! Razz

Eventually you'll get your parts. Very Happy

I agree with RSFreak, Pick a Part in Tumwater is the best for 3rd gens. Then there's Pull a Part in Lakewood, another yard between Federal Way and Auburn (off of Military Road) Grundy's in Graham (haven't been there, but I hear it's cool), Haps (between Fircrest and University Place). I've gotten something from all of them for the 85. Now that I'm thinking of it, I got my 3.8 liter from Grundy's in Bellingham (only 35k on it).

for 3rd gens, it's like a candy store...RSFreak and I have picked up several items, including a fiberglass hood, a 92 steering wheel and airbag--intact, a couple of center console box lids (i sell them on ebay or locally) and other needed or not so needed parts. the 4th gens are usually picked over but you never know when another one might show up
i live 45 miles away from there, so i know what you mean as far as the drive goes, but i've never come out of there empty handed Smile

Well nothing in particular, I love to go look and decompress after dealing with the public all week.

Anyway..........I am kinda looking for either a 4th gen LS1 rear (3.42), or a 9 bolt 3.45 disk rear. Another option would be a LS1 style read brake setup I could pull and put on my 10 bolt.

Unfortunately, their only f-bodies that aren't V6s are LG4s or L69s. The performance models don't seem to find their way to Pick-A-Part. Sad

Ok, understand.

One thing I did think about is I'd like to have is a set of 82 door sill plates. From what I read the 82's didn't have the cut out for the seat belts. I want to go to 4th gen belts and if it's true about the 82 style that would solve a big problem in putting the newer belts in. I've not found a set of 82's down here, so can't confirm that they are different.

We'll see if we can't find those sill plates. There is at least one '82 there. Cool

you are correct, 82's just have a hole big enough for the belt fabric to sit in, it works great for the 4th gen belt setup

The 82's are different..........they apparently have small slots rather than the big cut outs. The small slot ones are what I need. They all have holes in them.

Maybe next time.

you might have to paint them though...they were greyish blue, but intact on the driver's side...didn't look at the passenger side.

btw, RSFreak found the part he needed and I found 3 things today...good day for junkyarding Very Happy
