I got the idea from a post on TGO.
I found a rattle can of touch up paint the same color as the car. Next I cleaned and sprayed the metal bezel surrounding the gauges.
After this was dry, I reassembled the gauge assembly. I thought it turned out pretty good.
Now I need to clean the interior up a bit more and make the rear seats and door panels match the front seats. |

Looks good! Me and turbo_jimi did that to our gauges also except we sprayed the bezel silver. BTW, painting the back of it a highly reflective color, such as silver, will make the dash lights brighter at night. _________________ '86 Trans Am - 5.0L TPI - LT1 cam - 700R4 - WS6

Sweet. Saw that on a buddy's bird a couple years ago. Always thought it looked good. _________________

Thanks guys. The one I saw on TGO was done in gold, but looked kind of tacky because he also accented a lot more interior pieces. I thought it might look good the color of the car, if not, I can always repaint it black. _________________ 92 Camaro

Somehow I'm not suprised Schultzy likes the red
I had my dash out the other day to replace the headlight switch, and do the odometer fix. I decided to leave my plate black. Goes with the interior color of my car.
Is your odometer still working Al???
Here is another little thing I did when I had my dash out. It's an indicator light to tell me when my cooling fans are on. Two of the screws are fake that hold the plate on, so I drilled one out and inserted the light. To me it looks clean, not a hacked up look. Unless you are looking for it you wouldn't even notice it.

The trip meter is broken (before I bought the car), the odometer works fine.
I kinda thought Schultzy would like the red _________________ 92 Camaro

Sorry.......I meant to say trip meter.
Did you look at the trip meter and see why it's broken?? I'd bet just like mine it's the little clips that hold the little number wheels in. It's an easy fix. I used two small tie wraps and an old broken drill bit across the back to hold the shaft down. You can do this without taking the speedo needle and face off. |

Oh I did, I did!
I actually had typed 'I especially like the color' but then deleted it because it tends to throw the thread sideways what with all of the jealous blue dudes and such
I find that I am editing myself too much in my old age. Screw it, I'll be me and y'all can deal.

I think mine has a broken cog wheel. It reset it to zero just fine when I put in the first tank of gas, and it hasn't moved since.
Nice looking indicator light mod BTW. _________________ 92 Camaro

Well........I'd bet that the little "J" clips are broken. That lets the cog wheels lift up and not engage. You can reset it but it won't register. Take a look at it and you will understand. There are several threads on this on TGO. I've tried taking a pic, but can't get a clear shot of it.
Anyway........just trying to help. |
