well, i feel at this point that i have done EVERYTHING i can possably do to stop the leaking. i am left with no choice but to seal them to the car permanently with silicone. i can always scrape it off come summer, and re-do it come winter. here is what i have done in order:

NEW seal all around. adjusted t-tops for fitment. fit snugly now.

Re-sealed new seals all around with outdoor silicone. seals now attached to the car real well. still sealed factory style.

RE-RE-sealed t-top seals. now the seal is sealed to the car not allowing ANY water behind it. also ran a bead along the inside top edge of the t-bar.

covered seals in vasalene, hoping it would seal the seals to the t-tops. found out vasalene goes away after a few days of rain.

covered seals in dilectric silicone (never dries like vasalene) including the "corners" where the top meets the window (belived to be source of leaks)

STILL LEAKS. in fact since i added the dilectric silicone it seems to leak MORE. i have reached witts end. if anyone has any idea's i can try i will gladly accept suggestions.

i am giving the car a few days to dry out (it's parked under my carport) and then if no one has any ideas that can help i am going to COVER the seams in silicone caulk. please help me, i don't want to do this... i realy don't. Sad

Where exactly does the water come from? Have you pinpointed where it is leaking from yet?

TGO has directions to fix the leaks. You actually have to remove the black T bar thing and seal that also

The t-bar gets rippled and sometimes needs to be straightened

i have done this. it is sealed to the car as well, so no watter can get in around it. i realy did what i felt was an amazing job sealing up my car. too bad it was not. Sad

i am going to try one more round of the dilectric silicone before i put them on permanent.

CHECK Rolling Eyes this is exactly why I was so quick to purchase my GTA.

anyway, i just realised where i tyhink some of the wqater has been coming from. the seal that seals the glass on the t-top to the plastic bit at the end (the one that always gets oxidised) is looking a little weak on my car. so i used my remaining silicone to seal it up and rus some all the way around the t-top on the driver side. i am now out of silicone and off to napa to purchase more.

hopefully this will work. then all i will have to do is whipe all this nasty stuff off when the weather gets sunny again. Smile

SOLVED i am happy to say. well mostly solved. only tested in light rain so far. but leak free after two hours of mild percipitation. all it took was 12$ worth of dilectric silicone and a rubber glove Shocked

One of the main selling points for me when I got my RS was the fact that it is a hardtop. I've had several T-top 3rdgens and they all leaked!

Incidentaly, we heavily, and I mean HEAVILY, siliconed the t-tops to the roof on turbo_jimi's '85 Z28 and it still leaks! Sad

put a bead around the T-bar. some let water in where it meets the body.
