...it's been at least 3 years, and I finally regret selling the 88. I know I mentioned getting a TTA, when I get back to the states, but I can honestly say if I found a Maui Blue/Silver Trans Am I would buy it in a heartbeat.
Anyone seen any for sale??

I didnt say you guys didnt tell me I would regret it. However, at the time, I still think selling it was the right thing to do. I also have a real desire to get another LT1 Z28 for some reason. |

They're fun, but I have to give the nod to my GTA as far as road feel/handling and all around preference. It just lacks the power - now with a good LT1/T-56 (or better) in the GTA it would be just perfect.

Joe, that was one of, if not the most beautiful T/A I've ever seen. I'm glad I got to see it at least for a few minutes on my way to cali. You ever talk to the now owner?

That GTA would be awsome with a MFI 455, or even better the lsX. (From what I understand the lsx has quite a connection to the ol' pontiac motors.)

i have to give it to the thirdgens... stock for stock, they were by far the better handling of the two...
larger sway bars, better shocks out of the box (front coil overs on the 4thgens aside, the stock shocks blow), better ratios for the steering boxes, lighter in weight ...
but once you fix all that in a 4thgen its easier to give a nod to the 4th because of its power...
I love my SS but I wish it handled like a 3rdgen... it will once of these days...
if my exhaust hadn't just gone on sale for $150 off I'd be buying more suspension shizzle

WOW $150 WHAT EXHAUST?? im really trying to figure out what components for the 4th gens really perform and what dont so i know what to get....they get expensive

that all depends of course... not so easy as it is on an LSx though 
and you haven't exactly had an easy time with that car have you?

haven't looked at headers... however if you're looking for a "cheap" catback... the texas speed Rumbler may be suited for you... its basically 3" Intermediate into a 2.5" pair of tails with an 18" bullet style muffler in the intermediate pipe... its like $250 and its more or less just a non-stainless version of the SLP Loudmouth, some people enjoy it, some people sort of modify it as they go.... but its really the cheapest catback out there...
what I'm referring to above is probably the best exhaust system for the f-body (3rd or 4th gen) ... at least in my opinion... GMMG Chambered catback ...
I've been on the fence about shelling out the cash for it vs. doing a cheaper one-off TSP Rumbler/chambered exhaust but in the end I've found that it costs very close to the GMMG anyway and the GMMG has been a proven performer... they were put on all of the specialty 4thgen SS's and Z28's done by Dick Harrell, Berger (intimidator SS and the Berger SS among others) and the ZL1 cars... also on the Blackhawk's and a few of the NHRA WS6's (all LS1 powered cars though)
its quite expensive but when you compare it to the cost of say, a Borla or Corsa exhaust, for the sound and performance, you can't get any better unless you go with true duals... and that gets even more expensive for a good tucked up set

Bah, goes with the territory - when you start doing real mods we'll talk. Built to run hard and I run it hard. I have learned a lot.
I would not mind modding up an LSx motor though. The price of admission is higher but they is sessy. But for a simple old gen1 sbc, I ain't doing too bad.
