| yeah, i hear that. i was leaving work at around 1:30am last night, parking lot was icy, so i saw that as an oprtunity to drift at 5MPH. what fun. the roads were pretty clear out on thewestside by that late from all the driving, but the parking lots were not. |

I knew I wasn't the only one insane enough to do that. I was coming home from a little Christmas shopping, and found a huge ice patch behind one of the stores.
You guys up North got the worst of it. Here in Tacoma we got about 3 inches at around 20*. Enough to make your life fun. |

I had mucho fun last night going home from work! First time I've passed a cop sideways, at 3.5k, smiling. _________________

That's about the only time I'll ever get that Ford to slide. I think it was rated at 210ft lbs. at the flywheel, or some stupidly low number.

| I've got 4-6" of snow here in Skamokawa. Very fun getting back and forth to work in the truck. Almost didnt get my truck into its parking place this morning.. just ran her up till she slid sideways, then parked it. 15x10s with 275/60s on all 4 corners just dont do well on frozen over slush. |

it was so funny watching all the Seattle people try and drive in the snow I saw a bus slide into a car on university way! and a van slide backwards trying to drive up a hill!

Awesome!
The snow has pretty much blown off the roads now. So now its down to about 1-3" of ice. I've helped someone out almost everytime I head out from home. Building up my karma for chrismas
I drive my girlfriends 94 Cherokee 4x4. Its lots of fun blasting through 3' snow drifts! _________________ E30

Hmm.... wierd. I never drove the IROC in the snow, but I found it to be one of the most grippy cars I have ever driven in very heavy rain. Is it just due to the wider tires? |

Mostly. Its all in the tires. My summer tires suck arse in the rain. |

Rod do you get the dry type snow or the slushy/ice stuff we get? It's basically wet ice all the time here. Everybody from snowier areas always talks bout how nobody here can drive on snow... then they get their first winter and they're in the ditch!! Always love that. People from alaska.. bitch bout slow drivers.. then the next weekend they're telling you how much different it is to drive here. I really didn't know there was so much difference until I lived in Pullman a couple years. I was able to drive my 396, manual trans chevelle around in a snow storm no problem. Felt more like driving on pea gravel or something.
That said, my firebird does allright in the snow too.. pretty balanced. Doesnt slide or kickout like the truck. With snow tires it goes just bout anywhere i'd want it to. |

I think our snow is usually pretty dry, nothing like you guys prolly get up there when it gets cold enough. Now when the packed snow on the roads first starts to melt watch out, I have seen that stuff get to where you can't even stand up on it. |

Mine too. Drove cross country to Nashville a few years back (1998?) and chased a snowstorm all the way across. Only trouble I had was a thermostat that was stuck open and a frozen windshield washer reservoir in Utah. Learning to drive in the Midwest (Michigan) really helps out, but I also have to agree with the others that the snow here is more slick because it doesn't pack when you drive on it.
The weather forecast from yesterday was enough for Panasonic Bothell to close early and remain closed today and by the looks of it, tomorrow also. I drove the V6 up to Kingston this morning before I officially found out work was closed, it was very slick, but I really had no trouble. Just keep it slow, start in 2nd gear and don't change directions too quick or brake too hard. Hills are a challenge with someone in front slowly "white knuckling" their way up. |
