I'm pretty sure Brandon must have mentioned that the posi unit he gave me was for 28 spline axles. Imagine my suprise when I shoved my 26 spline axles in there tonight and they are a little loose.
I'm such a dumbass sometimes.
Anybody got some 28 spline disc brake axles for sale? |

LMAO..... sorry Rod. I've swapped back and forth so much, guess I forgot what it was. Makes sense though since the slp I have now dropped in. My spare rear is 28 too.. but drum.. sides its my spare.
What did you do to tighten that unit up? |

I didn't do anything to it. I studied it and come up with a couple ideas and then talked myself out of it. Just wait untill I buy an Eaton. Then watching Paul's luck I start questioning spending $500 on a diff and cover and then $200 on better axles. Maybe better to find an old 12 bolt out of something and make it fit.
Then I realised I really want to get up there to race this fall with sticky tires but I'm unsure if it will do a burnout to heat up the tires with out some sort of posi. So hopefully this one will at least get them both spinning.
We'll see. |

If all you want is sticky tire two spin.... weld those damn spider gears in!
I DO NOT recommend our power on sticky tires with a 10 bolt to last. I put stock axles back in this 2nd time cause I wont run sticky tires and even if I spent the $$ on moser axles... the pinion is now the weak point and well... I crunched that too.
I was thinking of finding a 12 bolt or 9inch and a spare thirdgen rear to cut the bracketry off of.
Just gotta find one the right width. Trouble with the ford ones is they seem to be 5 on 5 bolt pattern but I guess axles can be replaced. |
