I swear that some force is trying to destroy my cars this week....
I start out on Monday driving the Subaru. One week old and I take a rock in the window that makes 6 cracks.
Not 2 miles down the road and I have to do a slalom course through a bucket of spilled white paint.
I drop off the Suburu at home to take the Jeep to the airport. I almost get run off the road by a semi truck in a construction zone.
Not 5 minutes later another semi truck runs up my rear end. Not sure how we didn't make contact.
I forgot my coat so my wife drives the Subaru to the airport. On the way back the freeway is being painted and all the lines are wet. Nice.
I won't even tell you about the driving nightmares in Mexico. Every intersection felt like I was entering a death trap.
Then today I'm driving the Aurora and a large van pulls out and nearly T-boned me. Fortunately, I nailed the gas and he passed by my rear bumper.
I think I'm just staying home this weekend. With my luck someone will drive through my front door. |

Crazy, man. Do you have insurance for road hazzards like that? |

| Yes, but I dropped the Aurora to just liability because I plan to sell it. I'm going to stop driving it. |

I have been working in several construction areas lately driving truck and I can't believe how many close calls and near misses I see during the day.
People are impatient and can't stand to wait for trucks and equipment. |

Honestly, it goes both ways in construction sites.
What really bugged me today was that driving down Pacific Ave. on my way home from work, I was nearly hit three times in about 30 seconds by three people pull into the suicide lane for a turn, and either pulling in crooked, or pulling so close that they nearly hit me as I drove in the oncoming lane. |

trucks are 8 feet wide, cars at most 5 ft wide freeway lanes 12 feet wide streets and county roads anywhere beteen 8ft to 9ft. some body isn't paying attendition to their surroundings besides federal law inforces the (no-zones) aka blind spots around trucks. pass'em or fall back never pace a truck on either side. _________________

I am quite aware of driving considerations around truckers. The first guy was not running a trailer and he was purposely accelerating as hard as he could in tight traffic to block out people in merging lanes. He was actually intimidating the person in front of me by pacing him. I got caught in an awkward spot when he had to slam on the brakes suddenly. Fortunately, I'm a better driver than him and was able to avoid a situation.
The second guy was speeding downhill so as to keep momentum up the next hill. I wasn't going to break the speed limit. He had poor judgment and was driving beyond his means.
And don't even get me going about the truckers that think they need to pass another truck because their speed governer gives them another 1/8 mph edge on the other guy. |

Wow! Glad you made it through ok. Try riding a motorcycle if you want to see how many close calls you can have in a day
Seriously, I believe this is the auto gods way of saying that you need to finish your firebird and drive your own damn car.

I'm not really interested in ticking off other drivers on purpose. I do well enough just using my natural abilities.
I haven't been able to confirm this but think I might hold a world record. I was once given the finger by an ancient lady driving a school bus full of grade school kids. Can anybody beat that? She started to make a left hand turn in front of me in an icy intersection. I figure it's icy, her vehicle is 20 times the size of mine, and she's so old that she probably just doesn't care any more. So I slowed down to let her finish off the turn since she was already half way through the intersection. She decided to stop and then I drove through. I got the finger as I passed by. I had some suppliers with me in the car and they were laughing their heads off asking me if I'm going to take that from her. |

The saga continues. My wife called to tell me that a semi truck tire shredded in front of her and she drove over a large piece. I bet the paint is going to look good where that hit. |

Great... now she tells me that someone threw a bag out of their car and it slammed into her window while driving down the freeway.
This car will look 10 years old in a matter of 10 days! |

I'm starting to feel the same way. I no more than get the car out of the body shop to have a nce scratch (courtesy of repair shop) taken care of, then last Thursday, a kid in a 1 ton 4X4 with extended cab tried to run over the front of my car, did a bang-up job on the fender and nose. Maybe I'll end up with a new paint job one panel at a time _________________ 92 Camaro
