No problem.
I actualy think that this little local f-body board, can bring sure bring the tech. I don't image that there are very many small regional boards, that have such an active technical board, that has so much good info in it.
I always like to see technical questions asked, it keeps the board active! |

Pretty easy to check fan stuff.
Should have battery power, a big ground(Both the power/ground are fat wires), then the two actuating wires.
For the TBI swtich controlled fan... the switch grounds the relay to open. One thing you can do is just bypass the relay to see if the fan even works itself.
turn the key on, check for ign voltage to one of the small wires. Forget, think one is green/white strip and one is tan but I forget which should have the power.
Also use a volt meter to make sure the relay has the big battery power, and grounds properly. |

Well, I did get the 12 code to come up, now that Iam jumping the correct pins. But still no fan on, should be on when jumping A and B, I think.
Grounded out the temp sensor in passenger side head, nothing.
Ran 12 volts straight to fan, nothing. Bad fan motor.
Replaced fan motor, then ran 12 volt to it, it ran.
Grounded out temp switch sensor in head, nothing still,
Jumped out A and B nothing still.
Replaced Fan Relay, all the same, nothing.
However, started motor ran for about 10 minutes, Fan comes on. hummmm.
Why is it running?
1. Coolant fan switch in head is disconnected. (Not working anyway)
2. A/C on, coolant fan not coming on.
3. A and B pin at ADL jumped, coolant fan not coming on
4. Temp sensor by thermostat housing is connected
5. When motor gets up to temp, coolant fan does come on.
whats the deal?

It sounds like the fan switch is functioning then.
IIRC the green/white wire on the fan relay is actualy the ground. If you ground that circuit, the relay should open, and the fan comes on.
If your temp gauge is working, the fan should come on at about 220* if the fan is coming on at that point, it sounds like the fan switch is working.
I also don't recall if the fan will come on in diag mode. I would have to try it on my car, and see if the fan does come on or not. |

| Fan wont come on with A and B jumped because it's not run by the computer. |
