|
|
spohn SFC's, naturally are the most popular... but looking at them... they don't provide much in the way of anything to the side, just front to back.
now SLP's on the other hand, look like they go to the tunnel and along the side ...
the cost of them are both the same ... but makes you wonder... what really works the best?
I've seen ones made by Rodney and a few others so I'm curious... would the spohn be a better bet or do you want something that connects towards the center as well?
now here's the thing...
3rdgen SFC"s by spohn DO have the extra lateral pieces... the 4thgen don't. So not entirely sure what to think about that _________________

I don't know much about metallurgy but all that stress on those small welds on the left there makes me uneasy. |

Those welds are fine.
When brandon and I put the ones he made for me on, my exhaust was up so high we had to use a tiny little bar for latteral ridgitiy. Jacking up a corner only lifted one tire.
When I redid my exhaust I put some largers pipe in there. It made a very noticable difference. Jacking it on the subframe corner now lifts 3 tires!
Tying both sub frames together is a a great idea, but the stiffness really comes from the side braces. |

well... the other thing I was looking into, for a 4thgen, Spohn has a tunnel brace... and from what I can tell, his adjustable torque arm kit also has a modified tunnel brace with a DS loop ... makes one wonder...
the SLP reminded me of a Hammer and Cow production
looking at all these parts makes me miss you guys a ton though, it's no fun being away from those you've known for so long who you had a ton of fun with and could shoot the shizzle with.
in the near future, I think I'll be coming back up for awhile ... _________________

I've got gutter tubing as the ASC installed "subframe connectors" so I can't run any of the perimeter style SFC's unless I cut out every single rivit. Yikes. So hardtop cars could run it I guess.
Ultimately it'd be more rigid to "build your own vert" without the stock-style gutters and weld in your own.
Or get an 8 pt. |

the SLP cost as much as the Spohn do...
but my problem is, if I want to run other spohn stuff, I don't know how much of it will work with some other SFC's _________________

We're still not sure he does have one... or why he'd be posting 4th gen stuff in a thirdgen board... |

I've gone through a few since I've been up there
not really posting 4th gen specific, just more or less posting about suspension because I know the companies make things for both generations and am curious as to peoples thoughts on them... I would hope that there are still some people who are less biased here than say, a 4thgen board
besides, other people have 4thgens and you say nothing about that
having something other than a 3rdgen never made somebody not part of the cascade crew, did it? _________________

not that i have noticed. in fact several members no longer own thirdgens and continue to post. the only one i can think of off hand is bart. or does he still have the infamouse "slinky" hidden away somwhere?
though i have never realy seen anyone post tech stuff about there fourthgen. i know jess has one. chris also has one,it was at dyno, as was the silver z28 of... that one guy... whos name escapes me. however none of them have ever (since i have been a member anyway) raised a tech question about one. that is the only real difference.
or perhaps we are all prejudaced against texicans |

still don't consider myself texan after 2 years... i'll probably be moving back up north within a year I would think. give or take some months.
as for tech...
not really asking much for 4thgen specific yet ... I can ask that elsewhere, but like I had asked... all I was really curious about was opinions on products
remind me to slap you when I come home for calling me a texican btw _________________
