My chevy truck cab had a case of terminal RED syndrome. So today I did a little blue transfusion. Check it out.
This pic shows the mess it was in. Found out the window pillar was all bondo, and that my "new" 69 doors wouldnt fit cause they werent bent to match.
This is the donor blue organ.
Here i've cut away the bent up sheet metal and drilled out the spot welds.
Top weld and spots in.
Finished product..
The lower end was a bit more difficult had to make a couple vertical cuts and shrink it to match the patch. Amazing how much difference there is in a factory stamped part. Now I just need to grind my welds down and smooth things out. |

| Nice. What years is that Chevy? Looks late 60's with that small back window. |

| Cab's a 67. The only year of that body style with the small back window. Not all of the 67s got it either, the "panaramic" back window was an option in late 67. |

67 was the only year of that chassis style that didn't have sidemarkers either...I think they became fedrally mandated along with seatbelts in 1968. _________________

| Ya. .67 didnt have any markers. 68 had markers but they were just reflectors no lights. Then late 68 they started adding lights to them. Even though the trucks look pretty much the same there are alot of small differences. Today I finally got the door to fit. Took quite a bit of work. The back edge of the cab was pulled in at the bottom as well. Got it all sprung back into shape and welded in a new outer rocker panel. Need to flip the cab up and do a couple small repairs on the floor braces, undercoat then paint the firewall and I can set it on finally. Maybe even make that 454 mobile! |
