OK, I'm getting close to the point where I need to start thinking about my exhaust. After looking around this is what I'm thinking. I'm open to suggestions. Keep in mind, I'm trying to do it the right way the first time, instead of having to do it again later on. Thanks!
Starting with headers, I was thinking Hooker competition shorty cerematic coated part HOK-2466-1HKR from summit. Then go down to the exhaust shop and have a custom 3 inch Y-pipe made to go into a 3.5 inch single exhaust. Also I would have and electric cutout 18-22inches behind the Y-pipe. |

| Instead of getting the coated headers from summit, I would suggest looking into getting the headers directly from Jet-Hot. Jet-Hot sells headers coated for a pretty descent price. And you sure can't beat their quality. |

Dewey, do they have a listing of prices on their site? I could only find this listing of models:
http://www.jet-hot.com/pages/Precoats/Camaro.htm
I'd like to pick up a coated set of Hookers for my car, but the fact that Summit wants around 700 bucks just for the headers and Y-pipe is putting me off a bit. |

| Call them, and chat with them, they are also somewhat willing to "work" on the price, if you talk with them enough. IIRC for hooker 2055's coated, with a coated Y-pipe, they list a little over $500 from Jet-Hot. |

That's not too bad, but still a bit out of my price range for the time being. I am going to need a new exhaust system though, as mine is starting to leak pretty bad.
Edit: Not to hijack the topic, but does anyone have a pic of the 2055 or similer style header and Y with a single-cat system from underneath the car? |

Cool, thanks for those. My Y is set up about the same, except that there is no collector. Instead the passenger side header just drops straight down and is T-welded in.
It's hard to tell from the pics, but did you lose any ride height with those? Right now my Y pipe is torn up right as it passes in front of the engine crossmember, which is where I think I'm getting this exhaust leak. Right now I'm not to worried about it, but if I bottom out on a $500+ Y-pipe, it would hurt pretty bad. |

| My car is lowered almost 3" in front. And the y-pipe never hits anything. |

Nice. Is it an all-around lower, or more in the front? Mine rides flat even, if not a bit lower in back.
One last question and I'll leave you alone. Is it a pain to pull the smog tubes off the Hookers? I'm not running with an AIR pump right now, so any tubing would be dead weight and an exhaust leak.
Thanks. |

I know for a fact, jethot will cut off the air tubes, before coating the 2055's if you ask for it.
My car is lowered all around, a little more in the front than in the back, but it sits much lower than anything that is close to stock. |

Mine is around 1 1/2 off of stock all around, so it should be good.
Thanks for all your answers and help. |

| Does jethot not offer a Hooker coated header w/o air in the first place? Hedman does. |

| IIRC, hooker doesn't make a set of non-air headers that include a Y-pipe. |
