Friday & Saturday (17 & 18 Feb). The only two days of the weekend the shop will be open. Hopefully it shouldn't take longer. |

Sorry guys, I haven't posted up here in awhile. Been pretty busy with work and wrenching on Miamivice's car. I'm pretty sure I've got sat-mon off I didn't know friday was going to be a day for it. I think I work day shift and get off around 430-5 on fri. I'm open to let people crash here. The base is probably a better bet definately with the lift and stuff. I've had a few friends out at bangor work on their cars pretty succesfully.
I can definately help after I get off work and then saturday though. |

Can this be done in a day? Hobby shop is open 11-7 on Friday, 9-5 on Saturday, will not be open on Sunday or Monday due to the holiday on Monday. It's not something that I've ever done, so I don't know what all is involved. We seem to have more than enough help on Saturday. |

Al, I by no means have the most experience around here. Having said that, while it is definitely possible to do it in a day, something always comes up. I would allow at least two days and if you have to be out of the stall on the base after day 1, would highly recommend that you start this project at a diff location.
A lift is nice but if you have good jackstands and an engine hoist you should be good to go. All of the engine/tranny/suspension work that I have been involved in in the last 5 years on my car and other projects in the crew we did not have the luxury of a lift.
Just my two cents buddy. Hate to see you have to pay for a tow truck (if you have to get it out of there) or turn this into a multiple week project. If you have allowed for a three day weekend to work on this it is definitely doable.

Thanks, I am off through Wednesday, so if any problems come up, I still have the luxury of Tuesday and Wednesday to finish up. Any help is welcome. Shop hours weekdays are 11-7. |

Cool sounds like you have it covered. I really want to get up there and meet more folks but doesn't look like it is going to happen this time with the wife's work schedule and the perpetual shuttling of children.
Best of luck on the swap!

if ians cool with us working at his place when he is no there we can always start friday morning w/o him. removing the engine is the easy part. i can do that no problem. we just need to disconnect everything. schultsy is right, it would suck to finish an engine swap by yourself... better safe then sorry, we don't need a lift. if we are low on jacks i can bring a few, or some stands no problem. |

I agree, though a lift would be nice, I'd hate to start something at the shop and then be stuck. Even though I'm off through Wed, recruiting help during the week doesn't look promising. I also hate to go back and forth on decisions (confuses everyone) It's not that much farther for me to go to Gig Harbor than to Bangor, and less hassle, if Ian is still ok with it. |

Northeast of Tacoma, southeast of Seattle, so you still don't have to drive through Seattle. |

Ian, I PMed you late last night/early this morning, but don't see the message in my "sent" or "out" folders. Anyway, since you're off on Friday, means we can still use the shop on base and have the others meet us there (work in progress). I'm flexible either way - your place or the base - whichever is easier for you, but we need to let the others know for sure where and when. |

I'd almost vote for the shop. There's most likely more room and I don't have a hoist, just a crap load of stands and such.
Is it heated?
All ahead forward for Engine swap-o-palooza '06! |
