ok. UPDATE!
so i get to my dads house. i drove. i jumpered the "G" port on ALDL and primed the fuel pump and drove with no problems. so i started testing electrical. i could not find the relay, could not find the fuse (but since it primed once i jumpered i assume relay and fuse are ok) i checked the voltage at the pump and was anable to get any reading. it's awful cramped. then i bypassed the oil pressure switch with ignition on and the fuel pump ran. so i assumed that was the problem. but when the fuel pump ran it ran kinda rough... so i figured the fuel pump is on it's way out and this switch is bad. so i called napa and ordered a new switch. figured i would replace the swithc friday morning and let the pump go for a week or two until i pull the rearend to do the brakes.
on the way home i stoped at the napa to see about ordering brakes and when i went to leave, the fuel pump would not come on even when jumping the ALDL port. but i could hear the relay under the hood clicking on. so i called AAA and bought a fuel pump (they stock it). now i am back home taking a quick warm up break before i get started. the time is now 11:20 am. i have until 4:00PM at the latest to leave this house in order to get to school on time. if i do not finish by 4 i will have to leave my T/A here over night and drive my dads huge suburban (it has a bigblock 400 )
ok wish me luck |

well. it's now 1:30 and i don't even have the tank out yet. i have the rear droped. i have removed the brake line mounts and i aaaallllmmmost have the heat shielding off. i needed a stress relief break so i came in to pee, warm up and update the board. might order a pizza too. it's looking like i might be taking the suburban to school today and finishing the fuel pump the morning of dyno gathering day one! do i qualify as the closest call yet? |

Nope. If you haven't shown up at the dyno, 2 hours late. With tools in the back of the car, and work on the car in the parking lot, then you haven't cut it close.
At least the dyno curse has a new home. I had my spell of dyno curses. |

You've got nothing until you replace alternators the hour before, or tap rocker arm studs in 100deg heat showing up 3 hours late, with tools to change more on the side of the road! |

pizzas here. so i will update yall again. i have a full 3 gal fuel tank sitting in the garage along with four milk jugs full of gas. gas weighs lessd then milk by the way . i have the tank out. i sawzalled my exaust out, screaming like a madman ( i always scream while using power tools) the drive from here to the exhaust shop is going to be fun
i used compressed air to blow all dust away from the tank opening. next step is to pull the sending unit and pop the tank back in. i am not going to finish this today. and my dads suburban has no radio i think i am going to gheto-style it with a battery powered boom box in the passanger seat. |

... or have your tranny puke fluid up out of the filler hole as it dies a horrible death ON the dyno.
Dyno #1... good times.

I just grenaded my clutch a week or so dyno day last year. Man that was fun. |

John's Dyno Saga....
Year #1. I lost my job 2 months before dyno, of course after we had set a date. No money, no Dyno.
Year #2. The infamous clogged cat. IIRC, my HP peak was at 2100 rpms.
Year #3. Missfire on the way to the dyno. put down a killer 104hp. When I got home, I found the #7 plug wire, disconnected from the dizzy.
Year #4. Finally a clean run! Although I was fixing the nitrous system in the parking lot of dyno. Thanks to everyone who threw in a hand, helping to wire, and wrench (or if needed, stragicly place a bottle cap under the noid, to support it) (BTW, the bottle cap is still there!).
Year #5... I'm praying nothing goes wrong. |

Yup, a bottle cap repair.
I have also used throttle return springs, to hold my throttle cable backet in place.
There are more things than I care to count, or think about, that are held on by zip ties....
I know we have ghetto rigged my car more than just that, I would have to sit down and really think about some of the other stuff though. |

Most of the ghetto was temp stuff. It's not ghetto when it works and keeps working! |

I find it is better not to think about it. On a related note, paper clips have a lot of applications.

theres nothing ghetto about zip ties.
i have not ghetto rigged the GTA yet... the 6 though.... i cut out the "battery tray" on the intake side (that does not hold a battery) to allow fresh air in, only problem... it allowed fresh rain in and i dodn't want to hydrolock my engine. so i drilled a few holes around the cut-out and cut a piece of mud-flap rubber to fid. then i used GM door-pannel retainer clips (plastic christmas tre things) to hold it in. it's still there. then on sunny days you can remove it |

hehe 'THE' coffee can.
Tony,
I forget, does your 6 have the front air dam? Functional inner wheel well cover? I cut my tray for a cold air intake but water doesn't get up in there.
