well we are looking for another car.
we have an 87 z28, but damaged.
what car or what year will work?
all third gens?
I will have to put a wiring harness it, if it doesn't have the 165 ecu.
will a 83 work?
is there any difference in the early years? structurally? struts, rear end, so on and so on.
I see one on craigs list in Oregon for $500 that is a 1983 z28 crossfire that runs and drives. it looks good.
are they all good years? or one better than the other?
thanks

Get an '87-'89 Iroc. Best of everything. Handling, has your ECM type harness, wonder bar, good springs. It's by far THE best starting point for a thirdgen camaro if you aren't wanting to start from scratch.
Oh yeah, they look good too with the GFX.
You need a TPI one or your computer wont work either. Just get a TPI one and put in your chip adapter and your engine and you're good to go.
Trust me, I've installed an aftermarket computer, and pulled an entire engine wiring harness out of tpi..... GET ONE WITH ALL THAT CRAP IN THERE ALREADY! |

The 92s actually do have a better/stiffer body then the rest of the years. 92 was the first year GM tried structural adhesive. So all the body seams that just received spot welds prior got the welds and the full seam glued as well. Made a much stiffer car which may even mean less rattles. Styling and suspension wise the Irocs and WS6 cars have it.
PS. If you just need a body or even the roof/windsheild pillar there will be a guy going to the dyno that has another members old car. I'd talk to him he may be willing to part with/part out the car. He doesnt post on here but he has an 87 plain jane white v/6 car... with a 427bb stuffed in it. It sounds like he's going to try the dyno again this year. He found out last year he had distributor/timing problems. |

If you get the 90's style.. they run the speed density 730 ECM. It's a little easier to tune than MAF, AND you wont ever have that stupid MAF sesnor be an intake restriction.
I think you can use your same stuff... just have to get a different bin and definition file. The binsize is 32k instead of 16k. |

Now that sounds like a steal depending how much the guy wants.
If you are interested in that I might be able to scrounge up a trailer for it. My buddy that you met when you picked up the cutout has access to one. |
