| ok just the other day my gas gauge is sorta broken. it wont bo below like a centimeter before E and i ran outta gas the other day thinkin i had plenty. my question is do u guys think my gauges could be broken and i should replace em all. or what i have no idea how the gauges work etc. any help would be appreciated. thanks. |

First off, check all grounds. There should be some braided wire straps on from the firewall to each head. Check 'em. Not just look at them, actually tug on them and slap a wrench on them to make sure they're snug. And then check all the connections at the cluster end. I can't say I've seen a clutster "go bad" before, but then again, strange things do occure in thirdgens... |

| yeah im nto sure exactly whats goin on but only gauge i have left is speedo and half my gas lol. thanks im just gonna rip apart my dash and check everything. hopefully just a few loose wires or soemthing stupid. oh i found some disconnected wires under the hood. il write down all teh colors and where they come from maybe after that someoen could tell. and if i can find camera ill take some pics. thanks again for fast reply |

I've got a couple firebird manuals with schematics that probably wouldn't be too different than your maro... |

| 1983 has a 305, this whole gauge business is irratating. hopefully i find the prob soon. thanks for all the help. |
