ok, so on my 2.8 i swapped in a 4th gen style washer fluid reservoir, looks real trick and cleared out the engine bay nicely, but it is kind of a hackjob. i do not plan on doing this to the GTA; however if it is one thing the GTA needs it a cleaner engine bay... so i was going to swap in my 4th gen coolent reservoir. i wish to do this for two reasons, the first is that i need a new battery hold down, so i am going to be working on that area anyway, the second is that my battery tray is heavily rusted and is an eyesore, i plan to clean it up, POR15 the hell out of it and then put the 4th gen one in there. this leads me to a question.... our thirdgen ones are clear (usualy ) but the 4th gen ones are black. how do you know when it is full, or in need of fluid?
for pics of my install and the one i got the ide from visit this thread on TGOhttp://thirdgen.org/techbb2/showthread.php?s=&threadid=320263&perpage=50&highlight=&pagenumber=1 _________________ 86' firebird (Junked in 2015). 88' GTA (sold in 2020).

The lid has a dipstick built in with full/add lines on it. _________________ '88 Formula

ohhh..... mine does not have that. WEAK.
oh wait, thats because the lid was missing, i used the lid from my 86's bottle..... so i guess i need a 4th gen lid... that should be easy enough to get (yea right) |

It is like the MOPAR coolant dipsticks I think. They are a plastic piece under the resevoir cap (which IIRC pops on and off instead of screwing in).
If you went to www.camaroz28.com you could probably find someone who's parting out a 4th gen to get you to send you one for cheap. |
