Hey B, that last topic compiled with the Jimmy being down, aswell as the excessive cold weather, I NEED HEAT!
I don't get any heat until the engine has reached something like 200degrees. Usually sitting in traffic. If I'm on the freeway, it's pretty cold.
180 T-stat
I heater hose runes to the lower radiator fitting, the other hose comes straight off the water pump.
The heat vent flap does work. (all has vacuum, etc)
Had this problem since I went HSR and had to run the hose off the water pump instead of the manifold.
Think it's a T-stat issue? |

| I would imagine, that if the coolant for the heater core is coming off the waterpump, then the heater core is getting cold coolant from the radiator pumped into it. |

That's what I'd guess. Change from the waterpump to at least a plug in the front of the manifold (there are two you can use on the HSR) and hopefully enjoy some warmth. |

Hmmm I guess that could be too. Hadn't thought of that. Thought I was just not getting circulation, because I figured 180deg would be plenty hot, and running the garden hose through the heater core, flows fine.
I'll see about a fitting....
EDIT: Just looked at some other HSR pictures... and I see several have the heater hoses run: 1 from the water pump, 1 from the intake.... |

Ya, you got your hoses plumbed backwards. You're supposed to have hot water coming out of the intake under pressure and returning either to the radiator or the water pump. What you've got now is the water pump trying to suck allready cooled water out of the low pressure side of the radiator. So not only is the water cooler, you've got low pressure to low pressure and shitty flow.
Got to work on my heat today too. My heat is stuck mainly to the a/c vents. Got vacuum but not sure if the doors stuck or maybe the vacuum pod is busted. Takes forever to defrost this way.
BTW how's the jimmy working? You say its down? Problems still? |

Mine goes from the top hole on the intake to the heater core, and then heater core to the radiator and it gets hot as hell. I've got a 180 tstat in there as well. |

Hmmm wonder if autostores are open on thanksgiving?! LOL
I'll try that Ian!
Brandon, the jimmy is down for 2 reasons: A, exhaust leak like MAD. Stupid manifolds. B, I can't get any burned chips to read. I think my chips are bad. Tried All my stuff, plus Dewey's burner, adapter, computer, software, etc. Chips are supposed to be here monday.
I swear with UPS ground, anything that tracks through Hodgkins IL, takes an EXTRA WEEK! They WERE supposed to be here today, but once it hit that place they rescheduled. Bastards.
I finally got it to idle, but it's VERY lean still, even after setting the fuel pressure as high as the regulator would let me. The pump shot is super lean too. Undrivable. |

Hope that works for ya.
I know only my main warehouse store (schucks) is open tommorrow so jsut try the big ones.
And my store stocked a perfect hose to run to the top port on the intake. It was the right diamter (5/8 or something, I can't remember). It was like $8.00 for a hose that went about 4 inchesand made a 90* turn and had about 5 feet of extra hose on it. I just cut to length and it worked great. Oddly enough I think the one with only 3' of hose was a dollar more than the 5-6' one. |
