I was wondering, is there a company locally that makes custom e-proms?
got any suggestions?
I have to get this car drivable, so the do it yourself like I planned will have to wait.

thanks

Its more of a D.I.Y. kinda thing, its cheaper to burn your own than to buy one unless some one here that lives close to you burn you a chip for a price. but before you go start burnin chips. make sure all your sensors are working properly and if you got a working stock chip will help you get the troubles codes. I had a similar project like yours. but remember the brown wire when adjusting the cap thats very important and reset/readjust your IAC or your car will idle funny 0 to 15 "R's". _________________

| Blood enterprises or blood industries (I can't remember the name...) off of 167 does dyno tuning for around $500 I think. They tuned a buddy of mine's tpi 350 full size jeep. |

| Did you buy the equipment allready? If so Schultzy had a hotcam combo. Maybe he still has his chip file. One of the more computer saavy guys will have to tell us if 87 and 89 are the same. Then he can email you the file, you burn the chip and that oughta get you close. |

Yes I bought all the equipment.
I have been copying bins for the different sites but nothing seems to work.
32, 32b, 6
It all works, its just that there not correct for our car.
Don't know what was changed if anything.
There isn't any list as to what kind of engine components they are for.
Its getting a little bit frustrating.
I got the copying down, reading down, that's about it.
I bought the moats stuff and I am using TUNERPRO r/t, shoot I don't know maybe TUNERPRO isn't for me.
maybe try somthing else? Tunercat????
I have been reading mass articles but still have many questions.
There isn't to many experienced people out there who want to answer them.
I am running rich, now. Was lean with 19lb injectors, switched to 24lb.
I think the cam is almost making the motor miss at idle.
It surges sometimes.
my e-mail is Ttalkers@aol.com
Any help would be greatly appreciated
I wouldn't mind getting together and talking about some of this as well.
Sorry about the long post.
Thanks

| You're going to be hard pressed to find something that works perfectly in your car. You can get a base and then you need to start tweaking fuel until you lean it out some. I don't have much hands-on experience but we could meet up and see where you are with data logging and such. What's your schedule like? Is this a daily driver? |

Ian is definitely right. I don't want to add up what I spent on mail order chips. I think that a lot of the people doing them are probably quite good but each car is just a bit diff and you really need someone that can work with you and data log, tweak the chip, data log, tweak the chip.
I looked and can't find any of the bins for my hotcam combo. John or Paul probably has it though - they are the ones that really tuned the car. Mine was for a miniram/hot cam combo so it won't be exactly the same but might offer some help. It has been interesting to me to see a chip that works great in one car barely run in another.
If you can swing it, or if there is another crewbie close to you that has a wideband O2 sensor, that will save you a lot of headaches. We spent a lot of time tuning based on data logging with the narrow band sensor but some of our assumptions were wrong. With the wide band you will know exactly what your air/fuel ratio is at any given point... WAY helpful.
Good luck man!

I havn't done any kind of data logging yet.
I guess I should do that first then maybe I can share the info with you guys and I could make some changes based on your experiance???
what do you think?
The car is not a daily driver, will be, at some point.(should be now, its been a long time).
I have no exhaust on it yet. just a brand new y-pipe.
I don't get home until 4:00 pm and that is about sundown now. So I would have to wait until the weekends to get together.
I blew a header gasket yesterday, (damn bolt was way loose)
Will take a couple or more hours to fix that.
I just got the car tab ed, but no insurance yet. I don't want to drive it on the street yet.
At least until I can get the exhaust on. (cop magnet)
Iam as sure as I will be that all my sensors are working,
I have spent a bunch of money on some of them.
But that engine sure seems to miss allot at idle, I got me wondering.if there isn't something else wrong.???
when you hit the throttle it will all go away.
its just at idle
do you think its just the hot cam??
1. If I use a stock 1987 GTA 350 .bin will that be ok to start with?
2. Can I send you guys some data logging files to review?
3. Iam using tunerpro r/t, do I need to buy tunercat?
4. How does you hot cam run in your car, or did, with a stock bin file?
Oh ya Iam in puyallup, on south hill.
thanks

Stock bin will be a no no for your car.
Tunercat is over rated. Tuner pro works fine.
I can send you some great starting points including one of the hotcam bins. I believe that was Mike-s.bin but I'm not sure. Mike you remember? Or was it rev1.bin?
You can use an 89bin like the ARAP no problem to start. You have to:
Disable VATS
Unplug your cold start injector
(if using ARAP, set the fan operation flag to NORMAL) |

| Yup Paul is the hotcam/tpi man. I bet his bin will get you close, then once you get it driving , you can fine tune it from there, or bribe one of us to come up there and show you how to tune it, and nail down a tune. If you come to the dyno gathering, you will have 4 or 5 tuners there, we can get it running well between us all. |

thats a sat.
I can make it.
The only question is, if the car is reliable enough to make it.
We have only been driving it up and down our street.
Iam guessing that in the next couple of weeks I would know for sure.
At idle the motor seems to miss a bit, but as soon as you hit the gas it goes away, maybe the cam.
The ARAP bin, thats a $32 mask right?
thanks

That is probably because the computer is having some problems with the cam overlap, a good chip will solve that.
I would try the chip that Paul e-mails you, that should make it drivable. If you (I assume you and your son) descide to come to Portland, we have things planned for Fri-Sun, Just let us know, and we can find you a place to stay for the 2 nights. There is a post in the Events forum about what is happening, where and when. |

Ya I will take a look at the events.
are some people going for one day???
Seeing how my son is 17, Iam not sure he can get in every where.
I don't want to leave him behind at those bar or taverns.
(Although Iam sure he would love to have a few)
thanks

Who is Paul, what's his screen name??
He must be the local tuning guy.
I hope he can help me.
I will talk to my son and my Boss (She) tonight.
I think we will go, Man I bet its going to take a big chunk out of my wallet for gas. Not to mention a tow bill all the way back home, lol.
Do I have to give someone a deposit for this adventure, sounds fun.
Iam about 4 months late on getting this car to my son, I wonder if he will believe we will be driving it to Portland in two months, lol..
I was thinking of buying another z28 , this week. Id like to have the same year.
there are a few wore out ones on Craig's list. I have already tried to talk him out of this one and he will not go for it.(damn).
(Shoot I need one now, lol.)
thanks

Paul is twilightoptics.
No deposit needed, just show up, and bring the money the day of the dyno if you plan on dyno'ing. If you are just coming to hang out, all you need is gas and food money. |

If you would, when you have time, send me an e-mail, ttalkers@aol.com with those starting points you were talking about (lt4 hot cam), I would like to check them out, thanks
Id be willing to make a bribe.
I have some very small manual metal lathes, and one CNC lathe.
It has a collet set up in it and I think the biggest collet is 1.75, its real, not a toy, it weighs 12,000lb
If you can think of something I could make you. I have a mill but its tied up with permanent setup on it.
Maybe something else?

Paully,
IIRC the mikes.bin was from Ed Wright. I think the rev bin was the mods. I don't do remembery as well as I used to though
