Hey, folks. As you know my car doesn't run yet. And the brakes don't work either. I looked in to the cost of transporting my Firebird to Illinois and got some sticker shock. $2000 for a transport to handle the job. And Budget/U-Haul won't rent me a trailer without one of their lovely 14-foot trucks for $850 plus gas, so that trip would be $2000+ because of plane tickets. My folks are going to visit me in Spring and they could tow it... but I don't own a trailer and that's $2500 for a trailer.
So, I thought I would come to the Crew for some ideas. Got any better (read "cheaper") ideas for how to get my car to Illinois?

Give it to me. It won't cost you anything.
BTW, does this mean that you that you are going to finish the job, and get that wicked car going? |

Well, nobody will buy it so I guess I keep it. If I end of keeping it then I would finish it myself here in Illinois. It's always for sale until I get it back to Illinois. At that point I will have more money invested in shipping and will definitely keep it.
Unfortunately, mice got inside and pooped and wizzled on the front carpet area. I plan to rip out the entire carpet and underpadding and replace. The carpet is coming out anyway to install the roll cage.
I was home in August and saw the car again. I forgot just how sweet that thing looked. Not bragging or anything... but that car is just dang nice. Upped my enthusiasm a bit to get it done. |

Yes, it is a heck of a pretty car. I remeber drooling over it for about 20 minutes when I went and picked the exaust up.
Truth be told, I would love to buy it, but can't really justify another project. |

Buy a good car trailer in Washington used for $2000 or less and have your parents tow it back. Then sell the trailer for close to what you paid for it. Kinda an idea. |

| Rodney has the same idea I had. If you have enough cash, you could buy a trailer and sell it when it gets to your place. It wont depreciate that fast and its even possible you could make some money back. |
