Hey guys I know there's a few good mechanics on the board, I have an interesting question. How do you properly check compression on a 4cyl 1997 Ford Ranger with the dual spark plug head? I go on AllData and it says remove all spark plugs. BUT I think a wide open hole would provide a place for the compression to escape. Lol _________________

| That's what I was thinking! It must be a "general" statement on alldata that says remove all plugs. |

2.3 dual spark? Leave one plug in. You had the right idea all along.
Those Dual Spark motor's are still turds, and have way more problems than the standard FI 2.3L. |

Well I totally jumped the gun on tech questions. I worked on the truck for a friend of my moms. She told me over the phone that the truck was a "four cylinder". when I popped the hood I found a "four liter". On top of that it had super low miles so I didnt bother checking compression, changed the rusty spark plugs and corroded wires and it runs like a top, one wire was nearly torn thru, ran bad enough to have a miss on acceleration and trip 2 missfire codes. _________________
