Going to look at t5 today. What should I be looking at and looking for to maybe try and determine its condition?

I would not say I am an experienced transmission guy, but in general I put it through the gears while spinning the input shaft, then look at:
Input shaft play
Input shaft spline wear
Input shaft snout wear
Output splines
Fluid color/smell/metal chips |

There is some bolt on the side. A non-WC has a normal bolt. The WC ones have a torx.

I'm reading that the input shaft on the Chevy T5 is larger than the Ford T5 which probably helps with the fact the Camaro is a heavier car. _________________

That's what I was reading also. I know that from other readinga they can be adapted to work. I shall look at his and see if it has been. The spline count its says is different also. If he truly had it in a 86 then 89 camaro, should work in theory. Bit again I do.t have enough expierence to know for sure

I think it's more trouble than it's worth and if the guy had it in two Camaros, why is he really getting rid of it now? Is something wrong with your current transmission? If not, why do it unless you're going to go to a T56? I have a T5 and it's cool, but I wouldn't want to do anymore to it than I have to, especially since I know little or nothing about transmissions. When my T5 goes, which should be a while since I'm not trying to kill it, I'll take it to people who work on transmissions everyday and will offer a warranty. But that's just me. _________________

I got it. Was 150. as more then 10 splines which is what they say ford was. So hopefully it works. If not. Hopefully I can sell for the 150 I paid for it. Nothing wrong with my tranny. But I kindof want a stick now. T56 nice, but ten times cost

Get some pics of the tailshaft, input shaft, and the front of the case and we can tell you exactly what it is and if it's WC.

Here are the gear ratios in the following order for that transmission:
1352-065 Ford 1984 Mustang/Capri 5.0 V8 Code U
Reverse:2.76
First 2.95
Second 1.94
Third 1.34
Fourth 1.00
Fifth 0.63
Looks to be NWC. WC wasn't introduced in the Mustang unitl 1985. _________________

You did.
First mistake: the case stamp is not the tag. The tag is actually a small peice of tin that would have been attached to one of the top cover bolts. Identifying off of the case stamp is fruitless.
Secondly, this is clearly a veesix Camaro trans. The dual-starter behllhousing and narrow pattern are a dead giveaway. Did he ever expressly state that it was out of a V8 car?
Also, the fluid looks real bad. Shouldn't be so pink.
