Manual transmissions are much more fun to drive but they dont give that neck snapping sensation when you mat it at lower speeds like a well set up auto with a good convertor. Especially in a 3rd gen. Low back seats make you feel like your head is being ripped off.
My car used to provide this, punch it at 35 mph in 2nd gear. It was cool as hell passing some one at 40 MPH and having the tires loose traction at some ones window.

Manual is funner to drive, but a well built auto is quicker. My brother 4L85E in the GTO is awsome. It wasnt cheap to rebuild, neither was the custom programming for the transmission computer but that thing hits the correct gear every time you want it. Through in a 3500 stall it your neck gets a work out just driving around the block.
