3/4 of the guys in my old shop didn't know how to use the scope. Get a dvom out and check the alt output around the car. Fuel pump relay, battery, alt, etc. |

| Also worth finding where the sense wire goes. If it goes to the batt stud on the alt. then that is probably the issue. |

| I cant beleive a dealership would have so little equipment. Or do they just think their techs should buy the stuff themselves? |

Technology for dealerships has surpassed the old scope. It's what keeps indie shops in business really. Hell trucks ten years old come in and we are almost crippled to work on them. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

I checked my voltage before I replaced my alternator. When I first start the car up at idle it will read about 13.4v at the alternator stud with a .3G drop to the battery, the voltage will continue to stay there for several minutes no matter how many accesories are on. However once the cars warmed up and running for a bit, with each and every accessory that's turned on the voltage would drop quite a bit to the point that it will read around 10.3 with the headlights, HVAC, and radio on. So I replaced the alternator with a reman OE AC Delco unit. Didn't fix a thing. I still get the same readings. _________________ Richmond 3.73 posi| 36/24 sway bars | SLP LM2 | Koni's | Ground Control 800/200 | Y2K wheels | Dyno Don headers & Y-pipe | airfoil | BBK underdrive pulleys | Raised strut mounts | Extended ball joints | LCARB'S

idk if your code 43 got solved but i had the same problem and it was because i was using a 305 knock sensor for my 91 speed density and then i got a 350 knock sensor but it was for an 87, got a 91 knock sensor and the code never came back _________________

Yeah I solved that with a new knock sensor. There is a Technical Service Bulletin about drivability issues with the factory knock sensor only for 90-92 LB9 engines. They have an updated part number now. _________________ Richmond 3.73 posi| 36/24 sway bars | SLP LM2 | Koni's | Ground Control 800/200 | Y2K wheels | Dyno Don headers & Y-pipe | airfoil | BBK underdrive pulleys | Raised strut mounts | Extended ball joints | LCARB'S

Some wire is getting hot and that is increasing the resistance thus creating a voltage drop. Get the car hot and get the ohm meter out. My guess would be the feed from the alt to the starter solenoid.
More draw equals more amps due to the drop in voltage which equals more heat which equals more resistance which perpetuates the cycle. Our fancy Injunear friends would call that effect 'thermal runaway'. |

A wire with too much resistance is what I kind of suspect too. I don't know off the top of my head where the wires from the Alternator go to so I'm going to have to try and find a diagram. _________________ Richmond 3.73 posi| 36/24 sway bars | SLP LM2 | Koni's | Ground Control 800/200 | Y2K wheels | Dyno Don headers & Y-pipe | airfoil | BBK underdrive pulleys | Raised strut mounts | Extended ball joints | LCARB'S

Why try when you can simply do?
