| Camaro will run for 15-20min then shuts off. If I disconnect the battery for 5min then reconnect it and the engine will run for 15-20min then shut off again. Does anyone know if there is an anti-theft code in the ECM or fuel cut-off? |

What car?
What engine/intake/ecm?
When it dies does it lose fuel or does it lose spark? |

No antitheft system in our cars has that much delay. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

Must be the expirmental vats gm secretly snuck into a few cars! super delay so your car can be stolen BUT be within a 20 mins drive in any direction
thats a joke btw...just a disclaimer... anyway lets start with the basics, pull any codes? like arron said are you losing fuel? losing spark? do it again and monitor both issues and see whats going on because no antitheft will do that lol _________________ If you expect a kick to the balls and get a slap to the face its still a victory

Here's a question: If you don't disconnect the battery for 5 minutes will it still not start? _________________ 84 Camaro Z28 - LS1/T56

Would 87 even have vats? (I dunno what year they started that).
The vats on my car wont even let it crank.
Sounds to me like the ICM or coil is getting hot and stalling. |

Agh good point they won't even run the starter if its triggered could be bad plugs, cap, rotor etc when my msd was corroded to hell and back it would run properly for a bit then just crap out resistance in the ignition circuit? Hmmmm honestly I'd pick through everything dealing with ignition then run a fuel pressure test if the ignition turns out fine _________________ If you expect a kick to the balls and get a slap to the face its still a victory

I agree that it sounds like a heat soak issue, but there are numerous things that can heat soak.
Could be the pump pulling a vacuum on the tank.
Hell he could have put a carb on it and it's vapor locking! With no info we're all just shooting in the dark. |

| It's a rebuilt motor with new injectors, new distributor, new cap, new plugs, new plug wires, new starter. I haven't pulled any codes because I am waiting on a cable for my code reader for my camaro. Since I have new parts does anyone know why it would shut off other than the codes? Also I don't have a VATS. |

You dont need a cable to pull codes unless you have an aftermarket wire system.
And just cause it has new parts, doesnt mean they are good. In fact, I would look at them parts first
So, as mentioned......
ICM
Coil
pickup coil
Suction on the tank
I would start with checking for codes. |

Does the CEL come on?
As Jay said you don't need a code reader for most pre-OBD2 stuff, just use a jumper.
All new parts are suspect. |

Still wondering... Is it the waiting 5 minutes or the disconnecting of the battery that fixes it?
That would help narrow down whether or not it's heat soak. _________________ 84 Camaro Z28 - LS1/T56

| My 1992 S10 4.3 just did this a couple days ago. The ignition coil and wire that goes to dist cap were horribly corroded. Would run fine sometimes, choppy other times, and not start a few times. I got a new coil and wires and it runs great. Don't forget your connector grease! |

Need more symptoms other than just shuts off. Does it miss? Buck? Hesitate?Surge? Or just off like a light switch? _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

| Replaced the ignition coil and it ran fine. Then tightened the lifters some and it won't start it just cranks. I'm not sure if they are too tight or if some thing else is the problem. |
