Do you dislike the build quality or just the sound?

I'm also curious about your opinion here Paul. Most of what I've heard from car guys and shop guys and my own anecdotal experience tells me that Magnaflow is a great bang for the buck stainless piece. I have certainly been happy with mine.

Both quality and sound. I've had to return s few for manufacturing defects like missed welded. And they sound ok on non v8. Just don't like the sound they give a sbc.

so any recommendations on a good exhaust shop? Or if someone here does this and wants to make some money?

basically the job would be this:

i've got some exhaust gasket that came lose or something a little while ago. I had someone "fix it" but he said it was only a temporary fix. I can hear it start to rattle again so I'm sure it's coming lose again. Would need that fixed. I checked under my car briefly and the pipe looks pretty damn good. I would think most of that could be reused. For some reason, the previous owner only did a single exhaust and not dual. I'd like to go dual...don't care about true dual but really just want it for looks. Would want to take out the cat and replace with straight pipe. And replace my muffler with a new one (think I've decided on spintech). Also thought I might as well get new headers as well.

So...any good exhaust shops in there area? I'm willing to drive to a good one or a for a better deal (as long as they are good). Or, like I said, if any of you all do this and would like to make some money, that's cool too. Give me a chance to meet some of you and perhaps learn a thing or two.

If you want the gaskets on the manifolds replaced so you're not leaking exhaust while you collect parts for the new system, and you don't mind stopping by my shop in Graham we can get that taken care of.

If you are in Kent, I don't think you will want to get rid of the cat. If you need to pass an emissions check that cat might be important.

aaron, you have a shop? what do you do there? I'll probably just wait until I get all the parts to do it all. I rarely drive the car (except for this trip down to Portland) so it should be fine until then. Where is your shop at? You going to be there today? I might stop by on my way back from Portland if you'd be around just to say hello if I have time.

ya, my car is over 25 years old so there is no emissions for me yay!

It's just a car-hole for broken Chevies, don't read too much into it. Laughing

ah cool then.
Forgot about the cutoff, those of us in BFE don't really worry about it too much anyway.

I've got a 91. 2 1/2's from the headers to a Y-Pipe, 3" from there all the way back to the Flowmaster 40, then 2 1/2's out the back w/ chrome tips. Of course I'd love to do true duals, but Chevy had a great idea and didn't leave enough room. Mad

Mike Sader's American 1 Automotive in Puyallup. 253-286-1055. Did a really good job. Nice solid pipe and nice big welds. Paid 421.09 out the door.
