| So since I have owned car gauge has been pegged. Never would it go down. Not when I started, not when I turned off. Nothing. So I replaced my OPSU. Gauged dropped to zero. I was stoked. Then I started it. Rose to the top. Dammit. So now I remember that it is one wire to unit, but that wire game from a plug with two wires. One of those two wires I had to cut out when either removing my fuel pump harness or ecm. Can't remmebr which. But my question is, do I need to rewire it to something?? |

If your oil pressure sending unit is ontop of the oil filter housing, it could be a 2 or 3 wire.
One wire goes to the gauge, the others are for the fuel system bs.
If it's ontop of the china wall, it's one tan/creme wire to the gauge. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

| It is the top one now. But. Originally. I don't know. I donr know if something effects gauge readings. |

Look for the Tan wire, that's the one that feeds the gauge. The other one is used to bypass the fuel pump relay just in case it goes out (aka its not really necessary).

| Gauge in the cluster could be crapped out. Factory gauges aren't worth beans. |

| Ya. Gauge makes sence. I was just hoping that beings after I replaced opsu , that atleast it move that it would be all right. But if green is not neecesary then that asweres that question. So now I just need to go find a tack and oil pressure guage that works without being raped on the cost. Speaking of rape, does anybody know who this new guy is on craigslist from tacoma selling all the third gen parts. |

| If it's a single wire sending unit on the china wall it should be just a normal female spade connector. |

| Yeah. That's what I used. So I put my test ligh on it and it says its grounded. Is that correct?? |

| So does the gauge peg only when the engine is running? If so .. maybe you just are maxing the gauge out with your oil pressure. My motor will max mine out until the oil is hot. |

| Yes. It used to always be maxed. Never drop down to zero, ever. When I replaced the opsu, it droped to zero, but when I start it, not when I turn on key, it maxes out. So maybe I will try and let it get warm. Are you talking a few minutes, or like ten or so?? |

| Ok. Follow up. So I put in another gauge that Gabe gave me. Does exact thing as old gauge. When I turn on key drops to Zero. As soon as I start it, it pegs out. So beings both gauges do exact thing, can I make an assumption that the gauge isn't the problem, and perhaps something else is going on?? |

Unplug the sender, unplug the gauge. Ohm test from one end to the other. Should have little to no resistance. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

Also check that wire for a short to ground. Measure resistance to a ground path, should read infinite resistance. _________________ 84 Camaro Z28 - LS1/T56

Do you not have a multimeter?
Also, don't discount what Brandon mentioned earlier. If the engine you have has an HV pump in it it's going to be well over 60psi when you first start it cold. |
