I have a Mallory Comp 9000 Breakerless Distributor and a Hyfire (the first one i think) and i have no paperwork for it. i went to Mallorys website and looked at all the doc that they have and nothing was helping. What i need is the main instructions for the distributor that shows whitch post is for which cylinder and what the wiring harness that is connected to it is for ( i think for a tach maybe???) but i really need to know about the plug config. Part number is 9148201. PLEASE HELP HELP HELP HELP HELP HELP

Here are pic of the parts that i am planing on using, on the first pic (dist) the wiring that is connected to it on the right side of the sticker is what i was talking about above.

The posts go in Clockwires order..... for a SBC - 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2

The leads from the dizzy should be an ign 12+, A wire that goes to the Coil - post, and I forget where the other goes.

The tach is run from the coil - post.

so does it matter which post i what for the cap as long as at TDC compression the roter is pointing at the #1 cyl and there is a post in the cap directly above it, and then the #1 cyl sparkplug wire is connected to that one and you go in proper firing order from there???

Also, I though the post on the coil is what you connec the wire from the center post on the top of the dist cap and the two screw connectors go to the corisponding connectors on the Hyfire module?

BTW.....if i forget....THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR ALL THE HELP

Correct. Just make sure that the TDC is the Compression stroke, not the exhaust stroke.

Timing is just setting the relationship between tdc of the compression stroke to dizzy.

The big post on the coil goes to the center of the cap.

Not sure exactly what coil that is but in addition to that big post, there should be a + and -

the little screws on the left side that you can see in the pic are marked + and -

I though that is where you run wires from the coil to the hywire box (which has connectors for + and - and are marked to go to the coil

i realize that these are prob kinda old but what can i say, only payed $50 for all three lol

Alot of the setup is going to be native to the car and engine too.

Somewhere there should be a mallory dizzy wiring diagram, and a hyfire diagram.
