Normal post-facelift Yota bumper, just painted body color instead of the factory flat black.

Yes! Finally someone gets it.
Any bets on how long before I trade this one for a sporty commuter? |

I think you need some ramps to drive it into the bed of the ford so you can run it at ideal RPM's _________________ 2008 GMC Z71

Probably. I hate Toyotas, and I hate R motors!
Been driving the Ford to Woodinville because I needed it to haul lumber, but last day was today so I drove the Yoter as a test run:
-The speedometer does not work until the truck is warmed up. Maybe a bad VSS?
-There is not really a suspension in the normal sense. The damn kid uncranked the torsion bars and put huge blocks in the back. Sitting empty it's on the bumps in the front and about an inch off them in the back. Add me, the helper (big guy) and the bed loaded with tools and it was a bad ride. Good news is I think all I need are new U-bolts and I can get it back to stock.
-Woodinville and back plus a material run only took a third of a tank. That bodes well, but I can't get accurate economy measurements due to the aforementioned speedometer issue.
-The 22RE puts my old Mazda's F2 to shame in the power department, but still nowhere near my S10. |

Return the stupid suspension to stock and you'll be golden. I predict an honest 25mpg on highway trips.
I think it was a good trade given what we know about the BMW's history. _________________ 84 Camaro Z28 - LS1/T56

Hmm... Drivers door lock cylinder would probably be the only thing I can't find in the yard.
The speedo issue is definitely temp related. The truck sat in the sun all day at work and the speedo worked perfectly.
Maybe this trans just doesn't like the cold. It doesn't want to downshift into second or first until it gets warmed up. You have to just about stop like it's an old unsynchronized box. |

Get some Redline MT-90. Betcha it shifts better.
If you can find a similar door lock in the 'yard somewhere on a Toyota they are really easy to re-key yourself. _________________ 84 Camaro Z28 - LS1/T56

You guys.
This truck.
It has air conditioning.
And it works.
Seriously now. Guess the last vehicle I had with working aircon.
Also: 27mpg, including a 65 mile fully loaded freeway run, and an emissions test. |

My F-150 had working A/C. The Thunderbird was the only other. All of the rest have been broken or too base model to have it.
Did a bunch of minor repairs yesterday. I swear every vehicle I buy has a half-assed stereo and/or alarm installed in it that I end up fixing.
Lifted it 1.5" in back and about the same in front. Got some before and after shots:
Front before:
After:
Rear before:
After:
Needs a bit more rake for my taste. I might drop the front a touch or raise the back. Or be lazy and do nothing. I don't know. You'll notice I also installed a passenger mirror. No holes in the door so it was a factory delete.
Even off the bumps it still has a typical Jap truck ride to it. Some drop shocks may help that, hard to say. |
