I would be hesitant to do that simply because the GM ECU works so good, why try and use something else?
I did see them in my Summit catalog the other day though. They are kind of expensive. _________________ 84 Camaro Z28 - LS1/T56

$2500 for an ECM that CAN'T BE TUNED, won't control the transmission and can't deal with any power adders? WTF?
What headaches does this thing reduce? Headaches for incredibly rich people who are poor electricians and like stock engines with manual transmissions?

Where do you get can't be tuned? It comes with its own tuning module so you dont need a computer is all. Answer a few questions gets it close enough to start. After that you can set AFR targets, change timing etc. It even controls boost and nos.
• Accepts forced induction
• Nitrous input for spark retard & nitrous A/F targets
• Program different temperatures to activate two cooling fans
• Advance or retard the ignition timing up to 10° over the
factory setting.
• Select a rev limit through fuel and/or ignition cut-off
• Compatible with OE Variable Cam Timing Control
• Built in 2-Step
And transmission control.. arent you one that hates auto's? lol
As for price, I was amazed to see in the jeep world that people are paying $1500-1800 just for a modified LS wiring harness. No ECM or anything. Then of course you need the ecm and some tuning software. So if you aren't capable of doing all that yourself, this starts to look pretty attractive. |

Haha... this seemed a lot crappier last night when I was reading their website after a few beers!
I went through their entire manual just now and the tunability still doesn't look great. Maybe on par with what you can do with one of those $400 power-pocket-programmer dealies.
The LS1 harness for $1500 has got to be some Heep craziness. Painless sells them for $650 and they overcharge for everything.
As for the trans control, it seems like a real odd choice to me. The market for this has got to be old fat rich lazy guys, so why gimp your market by removing their favored transmission?
Ahh well, $650 for a swap harness + $150 for a mail-order LS1 tune and you can spend the remaining $1700 on parts that actually create power. |
