Sorry.. havent done a whole lot with the 3d gen.. been modifying the jeep of course! Anyway.. I bought 33's.. 305/70r16 toyo mts. Which are 12.2x33. By the price I thought I was buying a car or something, but damn.. they look good. Needed a little more space since I only had a 2" lift. So I bought a 1.25" body lift and a motor mount lift so that I wouldnt have to modify the fan shroud or shifters. Finished up tonight and here's how she looks.
There's 6" of space to the fender lip up front and 5.5" in the back. Maybe a winch will even that out? It's a sickness... Inside edge of the back tire is fairly close to the tub yet though. Probably eventually put some wheel spacers on it.. though I like where the tire sits now compared to the fender. Anyway... show off at heart so I had to post it up. |

New tires are good, and the "driving uphill like an old lead-sled Merc" look seals the deal!
Now you just need to bang it up on the trail. |

Ya.. problem with a jeep is.. what to do first! I've been looking at bumpers but they're all big $$ Would also like a set of Poison Spyder Ricochet Rockers too..
I actually kinda like the "merc" look LOL I imagine the rear springs have a bit of sag in them. Someday maybe I'll actually put some lift springs in instead of these spacers.
And thanks Jon.. I really like this rig. |

First thing truely is to change out/build a new skid plate inplace of the "shovel."
Put the soft top on and the rear levels out. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

Use giant piece of square steel tube for front bumper: bumper problem solved, money problem solved, suspension angle problem solved. |

As I said..a winch would probably fix that 1/2"
Did you sye and double cardon to tummy tuck yours Paul? While I don't need the sye I'm still using a driveshaft with a single u-joint on either end. |

I think you just need a skidplate like Aaron has. That'll solve your shovel issue and slight california crawl issue.
Seriously though, looks good dude. _________________

Stock driveline in mine.
I used some angle iron for the sides, and some 5/16 plate to build it. It's beefy, but not like aaron's truck. Plus, I put the trans mount back up higher to where it was before the body lift in relation to the body, which gave me even more ground clearance where you need it most. Photos on other computer.
WTF is double cardon? _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

Most people are saying when you push the transfer case back up into the body so that you can put a higher skid on that it causes too great a driveline angle. Same difference as using more suspension lift. Double cardon would be the CV driveline. 2 u-joints on one end one on the other.
There's only 3/4" or so between my current skid and the transfer case body. |

Right.
Except you can build the skid plate up higher, and recess the trans mount. The trans mount is angled.
Where mine's at I have no driveline issues and bet I gained close to 3" of ground clearance. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

| How much suspension lift on yours too? Mine would probably be fine.. working under it for the body lift the driveline seemed pretty flat. Just that a new driveline too wouldnt be in the budget. |

Ah so we should be same but different then.. I thought you had more suspension lift. The suspension lift and transfer case lift will add together for driveline angle. So mine should work same as yours if I tummy tuck it. Not sure if my tc has a different profile or not. Store bought skids arent cheap either. Thinking one of us oughta be making and selling this stuff for the prices people want.
Thanks for the info.
Oh.. unrelated question. Does your drivers side seat flip forward like the passenger one? Mine either has something wrong with it, or it doesnt. |

It doesn't. Look at the base, it's a standard slider. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |
