How is it illegal, and what can make it legal? Whats the exact definition? _________________ Richmond 3.73 posi| 36/24 sway bars | SLP LM2 | Koni's | Ground Control 800/200 | Y2K wheels | Dyno Don headers & Y-pipe | airfoil | BBK underdrive pulleys | Raised strut mounts | Extended ball joints | LCARB'S

it entirely depends on what form you might be talking about. If it is traffic related, look at specific laws about speed traps, or whatever the specific violoation is. |

Specifically, ORS 811.028 "Failure to stop and remain stopped for pedestrian."
They have an undercover cop walking back and forth across a crosswalk (no signal or stop sign, no painted crosswalk lines) and there are 6-7 cops pulling people over left and right handing out tickets like candy. Yes, there is a sign before hand stating "pedestrian enforcement operation ahead." _________________ Richmond 3.73 posi| 36/24 sway bars | SLP LM2 | Koni's | Ground Control 800/200 | Y2K wheels | Dyno Don headers & Y-pipe | airfoil | BBK underdrive pulleys | Raised strut mounts | Extended ball joints | LCARB'S

Undercover is legal.
Entrapment is if a police officer knowingly entices a citizen to commit a crime. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

They put out a sign, not sure that is entrapment, it was pretty clear that it was the police.
I think is a BS way to go about things, but I doubt that it is an illegal citation. |

Putting a sign out is pretty night and day. If you're not going to adhere when they put it in front of you then.... _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

So what if a police car pulls out rapidly and accelerates upon a vehicle, Just before the crosswalk. When someone accelerates up to me and drives close enough to not see their headlights, I naturally look in my rear view and am not very inclined to hit the brakes. _________________ Richmond 3.73 posi| 36/24 sway bars | SLP LM2 | Koni's | Ground Control 800/200 | Y2K wheels | Dyno Don headers & Y-pipe | airfoil | BBK underdrive pulleys | Raised strut mounts | Extended ball joints | LCARB'S

It is a BS tactic, seems like kinda a grey area. They are not enticing you to commit a crime, but they are putting all the elements in place for you to commit a crime. Seems like the sign is an "out" for them as far as people claiming entrapment. _________________ '86 Trans Am - 5.0L TPI - LT1 cam - 700R4 - WS6

They put out a sign. What more do you want from them?
Cops tailgating is old news. Around here they call it "pacing" and it's a legal maneuver to determine speed, although they often used it as a scare-tactic or to incite people to speed.
Hire a traffic lawyer and get it tossed out. The Judge doesn't want to hear people whine about entrapment and he's not going to let you off if you pursue that. He just wants to move cases through and go home. |

Allow me to clarify: I do not think Skyler should argue this case himself, or try to get this ticket tossed out based on entrapment. I think he should have a traffic lawyer deal with it.
I still think he will not end up having to pay it, just that this is the wrong way to go about it.
Just my two cents. |

I'm not worried about the fine, I'm worried about this going on my record, my career depends on me having a clean driving record. _________________ Richmond 3.73 posi| 36/24 sway bars | SLP LM2 | Koni's | Ground Control 800/200 | Y2K wheels | Dyno Don headers & Y-pipe | airfoil | BBK underdrive pulleys | Raised strut mounts | Extended ball joints | LCARB'S

This. Traffic lawyer. Post up on the local forums and you'll find a great lawyer(you're on vortex, right? I'd bet money on those guys knowing). There's usually a handful in each major metro area that can get you off of most anything. Technicalities rule. _________________

This is the BIG reason why you need an attorney. They are not as expensive as you think. For a basic ticket like that you would expect to pay $250 to $350. |

Depends on the ticket, most times the lawyer charges about the same as the ticket. Money well spent. |

In Washington you can only defer once every seven years. Save it for something better than a failure to yield ticket. |
