Anyways. My e brake pulls all the way back and still tools if on a hill. I was reading on tho and they said if you have drums, there are no real adjustments and it means shoes bad. True??? Or false????

Well... are the shoes bad? Razz

There is still a cable adjustment under the car, regardless of brake style.

Usually you dont need to adjust the cable however. Probably 90% of the time the shoe's are out of adjustment. Once you adjust the rear brakes the ebrake comes back where it belongs.

Nah B, you need to take that drum 10-bolt garbage to the scrapyard and put a serious axle under there. Wink Laughing

I had looked at the shoes awhile back. They looked good then. But I will pop of wheels this weekend and check them our again. It wouldnt be as bad if my car didn't pop out of park also.

Adjust the shifter cable correctly. Easy fix.

Make sure the shoes are adjusted correctly. Doesn't matter how they look if they're not hitting the drum right.

Neither of my 91's had adjustment in the cable. I put at 87/88 set of cables in so I would have adjustment.

I wouldn't be confident in my e brake until fully replacing the drums shoes and cables, my e brake extends all the way as well but my cable has lost a few strands

I thought drums were self-adjusting? Confused

In theory. Wink

I have seen the adjustment mechanism get stuck and the shoes will continue to wear till they started kicking out and locking up the brakes.

Shoes are self adjusting as long as you use the e-brake alot and/or backup and apply the brakes strongly. If you do neither enough they will get stuck.

Worn out drums have the same effect, mine were so worn that they couldn't be turned any further. The shoes would cam inside and lock the wheel with the slightest amount of pedal.

I was just in.the habit of ignoring the drums to the point of them being beyond turning, its really not the same being able to look at disks and say oh my pads are worn I should replace them, drums you have to remove them.to inspect them and I'm guilty of being lazy and ignoring them until they're beyond repair, but I so use my ebrake every day and back up every day lol
