| I don't know how to use a timing light to check for or adjust timing. I own one, but can't use one. So can someone either right a tutorial fora monkey, or show me a article that explains it to a monkey. More importantly to explain why and what is being done that just explaing steps, if that makes sence. [/i] |

| What is the goal of this? To set base timing and forget it? Or to recurve a distributor with a dialback light and/or timing tape? |

But what is correct?
You are using a non-stock distributor on a non-stock engine. The sticker under the hood isn't doing you any good anymore. |

| I am assuming I can find that info on the intraweb. I figure somebody else has a 327 with an accell hei. |

| Another reason I would like to do that us that I would also line to be able to pull distributor so I can clean up all the loose wires that run behind it |

But do they have the same heads, cam, vehicle weight, transmission, rear ratio, octane of fuel, elevation above sea level, pistons, compression, quench, spark plugs, wear on their distributor springs, and driving habits that you do?
Tuning isn't numbers you read off the internet. It's experimentation and getting your hands dirty.
R&R distributor does not require a retime unless you screw it up. |

| And I enjoy experimenting and getting hands dirty I just need to be able to understand the concepts and the who what where why and when about it. Unfortunately when my wife is my helper I don't get to far. |

| I assume there is a general base to start with and then tweak from there, but as mentioned before I don't know how to use the tool to even tell me where I am at now so I can even tell if I need adjustment. |

Is your light a dialback? If not you will want to get some timing tape off Summit.
You say you have an "Accell HEI" is this actually an Accell distributor? If so, what happened to the curve kit that came with it when you bought it? |
