Is anyone familiar with the rubber strip on the inner side of the a-pillar trim? It's almost like weather stripping but it doesn't seal against anything. I had it on my 'verts trim piece and the piece I picked up from Paul a bit ago. Both are decrepit and basically destroyed. Since I'm finally throwing on the triple pillar pod I want to replace it with something new. It's basically just a piece of foam rubber in the shape of an L with the short leg having adhesive on it.

All of them that I have seen have it. Near as I can tell it's just double-sided foam tape. I believe it was used to keep the trim from squeaking.

I tried some of my closed cell foam tape and I can't find any that is tall enough without being too wide. Without it, from the side of the car you can clearly see the red metal a-pillar. The gap in mine is a good 1" if not more. :/

Thanks, dude. I don't want to waste your time or anything so if you can just check to see the condition of the rubber.

I do, and that's what I had to do to try the closed cell foam stuff I have. I would like to find...foam rubber flatstock if there is such a thing. Laughing

I looked on my trim piece I had in garage. Had no molding on it. I thought it did, but I was mistaken

I just now went out and pulled mine down off the shelf. My earlier memory-based description and suggestions were rather poor. It looks like you might have better luck with some universal L-shaped weatherstrip than with the foam.

Quick mountain man, where would I obtain such a thing?!

Seems to me if you could find a couple cars in the yard that strip could be peeled off and glued onto your vert trim. Wink

I was so happy I knew what to do that I didn't think of the consequences to my image. I feel so dirty now.

I just find it ironic that for once I am the one suggesting someone find an OEM part and you are suggesting modification! LMAO

For what it's worth, TGO had recommended JC Whitney part HSTJ1332024 , "HST Materials Company 10 ft., A=5/8" x B=3/4", Stick On Replacement Sponge Rubber Weatherstripping, Style 2."

I picked up 10ft of this back in March, but I can't seem to find it on their website anymore...

If you can provide a link that would be great because if Aaron is banned then it's going to be funny as hell that he can't read it.

Rolling Eyes

*Edit: Because I have not yet been banned I easily found the link to the old topic:

http://www.thirdgen.org/techboard/interior/626136-pillar-trim-weatherstrip-guide.html

JCWitney no longer sells that part number, but why would you order anything from those f***ers anyway? It can be found for sale elsewhere by Googling the part #.

Wow. That TGO thread title is even remarkable close to the actual subject matter. I feel a bit dumber for not researching initially. Laughing I'm going to try finding something local first, and then order online. It's amazing what impatience can do.
